Job Description:

MSI Express is a leading manufacturing and contract packaging partner trusted by top CPG brands, as well as emerging and private label brands.

Internship Details:

· Duration: 10 weeks (Summer 2027)

· Schedule: Monday – Friday; Approximately 8 hours per day/40 hours per week

· Pay: $19.00/hour

· Benefits: This role is not eligible for benefits

About the Role:

As an Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Project Startup & Optimization: Assist in the startup, validation, and optimization of manufacturing lines, focusing on improving efficiency, throughput, and overall equipment performance.
  • Process Improvement Initiatives: Support continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing waste, enhancing productivity, and improving operational effectiveness.
  • Technical Documentation Development: Assist in developing and updating work instructions, centerline documents, standard operating procedures, and process improvement plans.
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting: Monitor and analyze production throughput, equipment performance, and operational efficiency to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, operations, maintenance, quality, and supply chain teams to support manufacturing and capital improvement projects.

What we look for in an Engineering Intern:

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Interest in process engineering, manufacturing operations, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to analyze technical and operational data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments.
  • Currently enrolled in an Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related academic program.
  • Strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a desire to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in both office and manufacturing plant environments.
  • Frequent exposure to production areas with varying temperatures, noise levels, moving machinery, forklifts, and other industrial conditions.
  • Must follow all safety requirements and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout manufacturing facilities.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access elevated platforms as necessary.
  • Must be able to occasionally bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and work around equipment during project activities.
  • Frequent use of computers and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Periodic travel may be required to other MSI Express locations and end-of-internship events.
