Overview
Mural Group is partnering with a global Tier 1 automotive supplier and member of one of the world’s largest industrial groups to place a Vulcanization Process Engineer at their Morganfield, Kentucky facility. This is a direct hire opportunity with a company that manufactures vibration control components - engine mounts, body mounts, and air spring systems - for major automotive OEMs worldwide. If you own vulcanization process development and want to do it at a global scale with real engineering infrastructure behind you, this is worth a conversation.
What You Will Do
You will own the vulcanization process from molding trials through PPAP and serial production. Day to day you will define, document, and validate temperature, pressure, cure time, injection, transfer timing, mold venting, and flash-control parameters. You will lead process trials, Run@Rate studies, capability studies, and launch readiness reviews. You will create and maintain Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plans, work instructions, and reaction plans. You will investigate curing, dimensional, durability, short-shot, flash, and material-flow concerns using structured problem solving. You will coordinate with Product Engineering, Quality, Tooling, Automation, Maintenance, Production, suppliers, and customer teams, and train operators and technicians on process controls and defect recognition.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing, Materials, Polymer, or Industrial Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant manufacturing experience; automotive rubber molding or vulcanization strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and structured problem solving
- Experience launching or industrializing new processes, molds, tooling, or production equipment
- Ability to analyze process data and convert findings into controlled technical standards
- Data-driven decision making and disciplined technical ownership
Why This Move Makes Sense
- You own the full vulcanization process from day one - not a support seat behind a senior engineer
- The company is part of one of the world’s largest diversified industrial groups, which means real engineering resources, career paths, and stability that smaller rubber operations cannot offer
- Morganfield is accessible from Henderson, KY and Evansville, IN - and the compensation is competitive for what this level of process ownership actually requires
- If your goal is to become a Principal Engineer or Engineering Manager at a global automotive supplier, this is the role that builds the portfolio to get you there
