The posting

VCA Shoreline Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Shelton, Connecticut is seeking a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join the Emergency Department as the Emergency Room Liaison.

Minimum of 1 year experience working in a veterinary practice required. Must have medical knowledge and be capable of discussing medical situations with owners (confirming CPR status of patient, discussing treatment options, etc.)

Compensation: $ 18 – 25 / hour dependent on skill set, experience, and licensure status.

We’re looking for a believer in the possibilities of high-quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the experience and technical know-how to make them happen….a devoted team player who thrives in a collaborative environment, and is invested in their colleagues’ success….someone who takes enormous pride in their ability to listen and speak to clients like a trusted friend….a service-minded professional who is energized by the gratitude of others and in the satisfaction of a job done right. If this describes you, we want you on our team!

In this position, you will work hand in hand with our Emergency Department. Your responsibilities will include such things as:

  • Client communication: Client updates (in the waiting room and over the phone), calling owners with status updates/ lab results, going over discharge instructions, creating and going over estimates, follow up phone calls, etc
  • Record Keeping: Sending referral letters, scanning and/or faxing records, calling referral veterinarians for medical records, entering charges, etc
  • Filling prescriptions and going over prescription instructions with clients.
  • Restraint of patients
  • Submitting and running laboratory tests
  • Coordinating triages with doctors
  • Other duties as assigned

Perhaps the greatest asset you will bring is your emotional intelligence. As you know, the emergency room can be a stressful situation for everyone involved. At times, your ability to maintain a cool head and treat clients according to the Golden Rule will be tested. But we have faith in your professionalism and know that you won’t let us, your patients—or yourself—down!

Why You Should Consider Us

You will enjoy exposure to a diverse and stimulating caseload, employ the most advanced imaging and monitoring tools, and tap into the expertise of more than 3,000 doctors, including 360+ boarded specialists. You will sharpen your skills—and even learn some new techniques—and explore career options that only VCA can offer, such as continuing education, transfer, specialization, and leadership opportunities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
