Job Description

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

At Metrolinx, equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team.

Our Capital Projects Group workforce is made up of driven and dedicated professionals who care deeply about working together to deliver infrastructure and make a positive impact in our communities. Join us as we build a knowledgeable and collaborative team that courageously changes how transit projects will be delivered.

This role is a hybrid position (4 days per week in office, one day remote) based at our 100 Consilium Place location in Scarborough. Our team is highly collaborative, and much of our work benefits from in‑person co‑creation, relationship‑building, and hands‑on partnership with leaders across the organization. We offer flexibility in start and end times while maintaining core business hours for shared availability across the team.

The Scarborough Subway Extension Office is seeking a Project Manager, Stakeholders. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Stakeholders, this role is responsible for managing interfaces with internal and external project stakeholders with a particular focus on coordination with the environmental programs, ensuring alignment with established scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives.

The Project Manager oversees end-to-end project delivery, executing stakeholder management plans and supporting successful implementation of the contractual requirements throughout the project lifecycle. This role works within a multidisciplinary environment of employees, consultants, and contractors to ensure coordinated, safe, and high-quality project execution.

What will I be doing?

  • Coordinate with the Project Delivery Team to identify, manage, and resolve stakeholder issues, including the development and implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Coordinate, assign, and monitor project activities and environmental deliverables, track progress against project deadlines and milestones, provide status updates to management, and document lessons learned.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement activities by ensuring stakeholder input is incorporated into project outcomes, issues are appropriately managed and escalated, and stakeholders are informed of project impacts, decisions, and changes.
  • Communicate project information to stakeholders and team members to support informed decision-making and timely action.
  • Perform quality control reviews and coordinate required approvals of stakeholder-facing materials prior to distribution.
  • Develop content and materials to support stakeholder engagement and coordination activities.
  • Maintain project stakeholder registers and stakeholder RAID (Risks, Actions, Issues, and Decisions) logs.
  • Prepare, distribute, and coordinate the review of meeting materials and meeting minutes.
  • Compile stakeholder inputs to support the development of Annual Work Plans and Task Sheets.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and negotiation skills when working with stakeholders, consultants, and contractors.
  • Prepare stakeholder reports and other project reporting materials as required.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • A university degree in environmental sciences (Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geoscience, Hydrogeology) or any combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Environmental Protection Act and other related environmental legislation including O. Reg. 153/04 Records of Site Condition, O. Reg. 406/19 On-Site and Excess Soil Management; O. Reg. 347 Waste Management; and O. Reg. 490/09 Designated Substances.
  • Knowledge of noise and vibration and air quality monitoring methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, preferably within the public sector.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), P.Geo., or P.Eng. designation or partial completion is an asset.
  • A valid Ontario “G” Driver’s License is an asset.
  • Knowledge of transportation industry is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with internal stakeholder groups for the purpose of sharing key asset information across the organization.
  • Strong coordination skills and the ability to work on complex projects under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments.
  • Experience reviewing scopes of work, budgets and guiding the work of external environmental consultants.
  • Experience with planning and construction of transit infrastructure projects in various contractual environments such as P3, design-build, design-bid-build and progressive collaborative contracting models.
  • Comfortable performing site visits to active construction projects. Note: Site visits may involve exposure to different levels of construction at stations, tunnels, parking lots, platforms, and railway corridors along with climbing ladders and exposure to inclement weather.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
