The posting

7-Eleven is an iconic family of brands with over 86,000 locations, surpassing every retailer in the world. We revolutionize convenience, restaurants and fuel through cutting edge innovation — working hard to be the customer's first choice. 7-Eleven empowers our employees to "activate awesome" and make a meaningful impact in their stores and communities every day. If you're ready to grow, lead and make a difference, come join our team and help shape the future of convenience.

We began as an original. We remain an Original at the top of the convenience industry. Our company invented the concept of convenience retailing. But we didn’t stop there. 7-Eleven® has captured the world with a proven willingness and ability to innovate. We were the first company in America to offer fresh-brewed to-go coffee. More than six million of our Slurpee® beverages have been sipped since 1966. And, to continuously stay ahead of the curve, we introduce more than 2,500+ new products each year.

With over 86,000 global locations, 7-Eleven Inc. is the world’s largest operator, franchiser and licensor of convenience stores and is also one of the nation’s largest independent gasoline retailers. The company continues to achieve operational accolades, win awards in franchising and drive innovation in retail in the mission to make life a little easier for our guests by being where they need us, when they need us.

About the Role

As a Research Operations Intern, you’ll join 7RESEARCH, a talented team of researchers under the 7-Eleven Digital UX organization. Our team supports every aspect of the 7-Eleven experience, helping to shape our digital products and services for our store associates and US customers alike.

Our team runs the 7RESEARCH Experience Lab at 7NEXT, our state-of-the-art R&D hub. You’ll partner with the Research Operations Manager, experience researchers, product managers, designers, developers, and other cross-functional teams to help research projects run smoothly, consistently, and responsibly.

This internship is designed for someone who enjoys organizing complex work, improving processes, supporting people, and learning how research informs better experiences. You’ll gain practical experience across the research lifecycle, with a primary focus on research operations and a supervised opportunity to contribute to research and insights activities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate study logistics, including timelines, scheduling, status tracking, follow-ups, and stakeholder updates.
  • Assist with participant recruitment, screening, confirmations, reminders, attendance tracking, and incentives.
  • Prepare and quality-check study materials such as screeners, consent forms, discussion guides, surveys, testing links, and session checklists.
  • Support in-person and remote research sessions, including the Experience Lab, equipment, recording workflows, and collaboration spaces.
  • Organize research files and repositories using team standards for naming, documentation, tagging, and access.
  • Assist with research-tool administration, project setup, user access, basic troubleshooting, and process documentation.
  • Maintain simple trackers or dashboards for study status, recruitment progress, tool usage, and recurring operational issues.
  • Identify workflow improvements and help create templates, checklists, playbooks, and other reusable resources.
  • Occasionally support researchers by observing sessions, taking notes, organizing data, conducting secondary research, or summarizing themes.
  • Complete an independent internship project focused on improving a research-operations process or resource, with guidance from the team.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate, master’s, or PhD program in psychology, cognitive science, human-computer interaction, human factors, anthropology, sociology, marketing research, information science, design, business, operations, communications, data science, MIS, or a related field.
  • Coursework, project, campus, volunteer, or internship experience involving research, project coordination, operations, information management, or data analysis.
  • Foundational understanding of user-centered research, customer insights, and how research supports product and experience development.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including professional communication with participants and cross-functional partners.
  • Comfort working with spreadsheets and shared documents; familiarity with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • Familiarity with at least one collaboration, project-management, survey, participant-recruitment, research, or repository tool.
  • Basic understanding of interviews, usability testing, surveys, data organization, or synthesizing themes. Advanced statistics are not required.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information thoughtfully and follow expectations related to privacy, consent, and confidentiality.
  • Curious, proactive, dependable, and comfortable learning new tools and processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating a research study, event, project, student organization, community, or volunteer program.
  • Experience creating process documentation, checklists, templates, trackers, presentations, or knowledge-base content.
  • Experience supporting participants, customers, clients, vendors, or other external audiences.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Qualtrics, Alchemer, UserTesting, dscout, Maze, Dovetail, Figma, FigJam, Miro, Mural, or similar platforms.
  • Interest in retail, digital products, customer experiences, research operations, or service design.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
