You will provide day-to-day operational leadership for assigned Community Homes, supporting Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and Lead DSPs while ensuring high-quality services, regulatory compliance, and effective program operations. Spending the majority of your time in assigned homes, you will provide coaching, guidance, and operational oversight while remaining outside the direct care staffing ratio. Working closely with the Associate Director, Program Specialists, Nursing, Human Resources, Behavior Specialists, and other interdisciplinary partners, you will help ensure consistent implementation of Individual Support Plans (ISPs), maintain licensing readiness, support staff development, and promote a safe, respectful, and accountable environment for both individuals receiving services and team members. This position requires a flexible schedule based on operational needs, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities. What You'll Bring

Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to coach, develop, and hold staff accountable. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with individuals, families, staff, guardians, community partners, and internal departments. Ability to create a positive, respectful, and accountable team environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage staffing, scheduling, documentation, compliance, and operational priorities. Ability to respond calmly and effectively to incidents, emergencies, staffing challenges, and changing operational needs. Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate, complete, and regulatory-compliant documentation. Ability to analyze staffing, operational, and financial information to identify trends and support informed decision-making. Ability to manage competing priorities while ensuring continuity and quality of services. Working knowledge of residential human services operations, Chapter 6400 requirements, licensing standards, and regulatory compliance. Proficiency with HRIS and documentation systems such as Dayforce and CareLogic, with the ability to learn new systems and technology as needed. Ability to promote safe work practices and reinforce organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities. Ability to travel between assigned Community Homes and other Barber National Institute locations as needed.

What You'll Have

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in human services, social services, business, or a related field preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred for roles supporting multi-site supervision, budgeting, and regulatory readiness. Two to three years of progressively responsible experience in residential or community-based human services, including demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and substantial residential services leadership experience may be considered. Valid driver's license and ongoing compliance with all agency and insurer driving eligibility requirements. CPR and First Aid certifications required. Ability to successfully obtain and maintain Medication Administration and Med Observer certifications as required by program needs and regulations. Ability to enroll in the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) Front Line Supervisor (FLS) cohort before completing the first year in the role. Successful completion and maintenance of all required regulatory and agency clearances, including criminal background checks, child abuse clearances, and fingerprinting, as applicable. Ability to meet the physical and environmental requirements of the position, including safely assisting individuals with mobility, transfers, positioning, and other support needs as required.

A Typical Day May Include

Providing daily leadership and operational oversight for assigned Community Homes. Supervising, coaching, and developing DSPs and Lead DSPs through regular feedback, performance conversations, recognition, and corrective action when needed. Participating in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts in partnership with Human Resources. Leading regular team meetings to communicate organizational updates, reinforce expectations, review priorities, and encourage open communication. Ensuring team members complete required training, certifications, and annual learning requirements. Developing staff schedules, coordinating shift coverage, and addressing call-offs to ensure uninterrupted support for individuals receiving services. Approving timecards and paid time off requests while monitoring overtime, staffing trends, and workforce needs. Coordinating facility, equipment, transportation, and other operational needs while ensuring maintenance concerns receive timely follow-up. Monitoring service delivery, documentation, and program practices to ensure compliance with agency policies, Chapter 6100 and 6400 regulations, licensing standards, and contractual requirements. Reviewing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance while providing coaching and follow-up as needed. Partnering with Program Specialists to maintain licensing readiness, prepare for audits, and complete corrective actions. Conducting routine home visits and safety reviews to identify hazards and ensure homes remain clean, safe, and well-maintained. Investigating incidents, accidents, and near misses; documenting findings; coordinating follow-up; and implementing measures to reduce future risk. Immediately reporting suspected abuse or neglect and taking appropriate action to ensure individual safety in accordance with agency policy and regulatory requirements. Maintaining Medication Administration and Med Observer certifications while ensuring required staff certifications remain current. Coordinating staffing coverage and transportation needs related to medical appointments scheduled by Nursing. Participating in admissions, annual meetings, discharge planning, and other interdisciplinary meetings to support continuity of care. Building positive working relationships with individuals, families, guardians, community partners, and internal departments to promote responsive, person-centered services. Monitoring operational trends and identifying opportunities to improve service quality, staffing, safety, compliance, and efficiency. Reinforcing BNI's Core Commitments by modeling integrity, adaptability, collaboration, ethical decision-making, transparent communication, and mission-centered leadership. Promoting a culture of accountability, professional growth, continuous improvement, and respect across assigned residential teams.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
