Citi’s Enterprise Services and Public Affairs (ESPA) aims to enhance how our stakeholders perceive and experience Citi. We manage our reputation by engaging with our stakeholders and delivering great spaces and services to colleagues and clients.

Job Scope:

Overall Management

  • Develop and implement strategic communication plans for internal and external audiences
  • Formulate communications strategies to support businesses in media relations, issues management, customer events, community relations and internal employee communications and campaigns
  • Develop an impactful social media strategy and leverage various platforms to help build Citi’s profile in Singapore
  • Draft positioning statements to manage business issues on external platforms that may pose reputational risk to the franchise
  • Write speeches and memos for senior management
  • Ensure all legal, regulatory and compliance issues are addressed in all relevant communications and key conduct and risk messages are appropriately included
  • Compile and keep current business information and fact sheets, and track media and communications strategies executed
  • Co-ordinate with external agencies to deliver communications campaigns where applicable
  • Liaise with government and regulatory authorities on governance and communications related requests
  • Monitor and manage budgets to specific briefs

External Communications

  • Function as a key media contact for issues related to Citi’s businesses in Singapore.
  • Proactively drive a consistent pipeline of media opportunities and coverage to elevate the Citi brand and deliver business objectives
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to identify newsworthy angles and storytelling opportunities that increase visibility for the business.
  • Provide strategic crisis communications advisory to the business and handle media queries on issues or crisis scenarios
  • Draft all media materials including press releases, media pitches, briefing documents, bylines, Q&A, talking points and proactively amplify external messages on appropriate platforms including Citi’s website, LinkedIn and internal channels.
  • Identify speaking opportunities and platforms to position senior management and support them in their communications needs
  • Plan and manage media analysis and reporting

Internal Communications

  • Develop internal communications strategies and plans to ensure that key messages are delivered effectively to all employees
  • Manage all aspects of internal communications from managing town halls to developing talking points, presentation materials and more.
  • Leverage all internal platforms to disseminate key messages and develop new ways of increasing employees’ mindshare

Sponsorship and Events

  • Lead, plan and execute internal and external events including sponsorship related activations
  • Oversee all planning, creative designs, written materials, logistics and on-site management of each event where necessary
  • Prepare briefing documents for senior management
  • Work collaboratively with partners and vendors to execute events and deliver the best outcome for Citi.

Governance

  • Ensure all legal, regulatory and compliance issues are addressed in all communications undertaken on behalf of the businesses
  • Ensure full compliance with global communications protocols and procedures and records are up to date
  • Liaise with government and regulatory authorities and colleagues to deliver on governance requirements
  • Monitor and manage budgets to specific briefs
  • Appropriately assess risk when business communications are undertaken, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • 10-12 years’ working experience in a fast-paced global organization’s corporate communications department, a public relations agency or journalism
  • Strong relationships with members of the media, particularly financial and business journalists.
  • Proven ability in managing crisis communications
  • Experience in creating and managing social media content
  • Able to provide creative solutions to achieve results
  • Relevant experience in financial services industry is an advantage
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, communications or other related fields

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making skills during crises.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and able to work well with colleagues at all levels of the company
