Job Overview
The Accounts Executive is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records, managing the full set of accounts, performing monthly closing activities, and supporting group consolidation and financial reporting. The role works closely with internal departments, subsidiaries, auditors, banks, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and statutory requirements.
Job Descriptions
Full Set of Accounts &Monthly Closing
• Handle a full set of accounts, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP),Accounts Receivable (AR), fixed assets, accruals, prepayments, and bank transactions.
• Perform monthly financial closing accurately and within the required reporting timeline.
• Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, provisions, and other closing adjustments.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure outstanding items are properly investigated and resolved.
• Prepare monthly Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and supporting schedules.
• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash and bank balances.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and ensure accurate recording of additions, disposals and depreciation.
• Review accounts to ensure completeness, accuracy and proper classification of transactions.
Group Consolidation &Reporting
• Assist in the preparation of monthly group consolidation and consolidated financial statements.
• Coordinate with subsidiaries and related companies to ensure timely submission of monthly financial information and reporting packages.
• Perform intercompany reconciliation and follow up on discrepancies with relevant entities.
• Assist with intercompany balance and transaction elimination during consolidation.
• Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and reporting requirements across group entities.
• Prepare consolidation schedules and supporting workings for management review.
• Assist in analyzing monthly financial results and significant variances where required.
Accounts Payable &Receivable
• Review supplier invoices, payment documentation and accounting entries.
• Prepare payment schedules and process payments according to the company's approval procedures.
• Monitor customer accounts, receipts and outstanding balances.
• Follow up on overdue receivables and assist with collection activities.
• Ensure AP and AR sub-ledgers are reconciled to the General Ledger.
Tax, Audit & Statutory Compliance
• Assist with GST preparation, reconciliation and submission.
• Support corporate income tax computations and other statutory reporting requirements.
• Prepare schedules and support documents for external and internal audits.
• Liaise with auditors, tax agents, corporate secretaries and other professional advisers when required.
• Ensure accounting records comply with applicable accounting standards, statutory requirements and internal policies.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
• Assist in annual budgeting and periodic forecasting exercises.
• Prepare actual-versus-budget comparisons and support variance analysis.
• Support management with financial information and ad-hoc financial analysis as required.
Internal Controls & Other Responsibilities
• Ensure compliance with the company's financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Maintain proper accounting documentation and filing for audit and statutory purposes.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency and internal controls.
• Support Financial Controller in finance-related projects and ad-hoc assignments.
• Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
· Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
· Approximately3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with hands-on experience managing a full set of accounts.
· Practical experience in monthly closing and group consolidation is preferred.
· Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
· Experience in intercompany accounting and reconciliation is an advantage.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, lookup functions and financial schedules.
· Experience with ERP or accounting systems is preferred.
· Strong attention to detail with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Able to work independently and meet tight monthly reporting deadlines.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with different business units and group entities.
