Job Description

  • Process and handle Trade Finance products, including Import LC, Export LC, SBLC issuance, amendments, settlements, and related transactions.
  • Ensure all transactions are processed in accordance with established operating procedures, regulatory requirements, and bank policies.
  • Meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) by ensuring timely and accurate processing of daily transactions.
  • Perform trade compliance and risk control checks, including sanctions screening, IMB checks, LLI checks, and identification of suspicious activities or red flags.
  • Escalate operational risk incidents, exceptions, and compliance concerns promptly in accordance with established procedures.
  • Review client instructions, liaise with customers on discrepancies or incomplete documentation, and obtain the necessary supporting documents prior to execution.
  • Deliver high-quality client service by managing inquiries effectively and providing appropriate solutions and guidance on trade finance matters.
  • Monitor and manage daily workflow to achieve operational efficiency and exceed client expectations.
  • Conduct transaction monitoring and end-to-end follow-up of structured trade transactions, providing regular status updates to Structured Trade Middle Office (STMO).
  • Collaborate closely with STMO, Business Units (BU), Global Transaction Services (GTS), and other stakeholders to ensure seamless transaction processing and issue resolution.
  • Ensure adherence to departmental SOPs, internal controls, compliance requirements, and governance standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, operational efficiency, and risk reduction.
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Live Verification (LV), and system enhancement initiatives to support technology and process transformation.
  • Support ad-hoc projects, business initiatives, and departmental assignments as required.
  • Maintain proper filing, document retention, and archival of trade documents and transaction records.
  • Perform operational administrative duties, including DHL courier manifest preparation and document dispatch.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized university and/or at least 2 to 3 years working experience in the Trade Finance Operations within a bank, preferably in the Structured and Commodity finance environment
  • Client service oriented, ability to exercise sound judgement on transaction monitoring and escalation of red flags
  • Proficient in SWIFT messages such as MT7xx, MT4xx, MT202 and MT103
  • Conversant and competent in application of URC522 and URR725
  • Good working knowledge of UCP600, ISBP, ISP98 and Incoterms would be an added advantage.
  • Good working attitude and positive mindset, ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the organization and demands of both internal and external stakeholders
  • Work cohesively to build alliances and partnerships with Structured Trade Middle Office (STMO), Regional Trade team, Business Units (RM and GTS) and other stakeholders.
