Application Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Application Engineer for one of our clients, a well-established and reputable leader in the industrial and engineering services sector. This person will provide technical support on the company’s product offerings, ensuring that proposed solutions meet customer requirements, local regulatory standards and tender specifications.

The role is responsible for evaluating project requirements received from the Sales team and distributors, particularly for non-standard system enquiries submitted through RFQs (Requests for Quotation). The engineer will also support and clarify pre-sales technical enquiries and work closely with relevant cross-functional teams to develop suitable and commercially viable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct project feasibility studies and propose suitable or alternative technical solutions, including identifying and addressing any deviations from enquiry or tender specifications.

• Review and work on project tender specifications and technical requirements.

• Attend project sites to carry out surveys and support the development of integration proposals.

• Lead technical discussions with customers and stakeholders, particularly on specification changes and installation design considerations relating to exhaust systems, fuel supply systems and other associated requirements.

• Review requests for non-standard generator sets and equipment to ensure all required information has been provided and that the proposed solution is technically and commercially viable.

• Respond promptly to technical pre-sales enquiries and provide appropriate technical recommendations.

• Prepare project cost estimates, including non-standard products, M&E works and solution-based proposals.

• Work closely with the Engineering team to assess project feasibility and recommend appropriate or alternative solutions based on customer requirements.

• Collaborate with the Senior IS Engineer to prepare quotations for the Sales team in accordance with project and customer requirements.

• Coordinate with Supply Chain and external vendors during the pre-sales stage to develop project and non-standard system solutions that meet customers’ requirements.

• Support the achievement of departmental and organisational sales targets by taking ownership of assigned projects and responsibilities.

• Provide pre-sales technical support to distributors and dealers.

• Maintain and comply with ISO processes and documentation relevant to the IS function.

• Perform other related duties as required to support the department and business.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline; or Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with at least 4 years of relevant technical solutions or a Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand customer requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions.

• Good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Able to manage multiple priorities, organise work effectively and meet project timelines.

• Comfortable working across Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, vendors and customers in a project- driven environment.
