The posting
We’re looking for a versatile and dependable Adjunct Art Trainer who is confident working across different art forms, materials and creative techniques.
You should have a strong foundation in art, enjoy working with people, and be comfortable delivering different types of creative programmes.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is accountable, responsible and adaptable — someone who comes prepared, takes ownership of their classes and can be relied upon to follow through on commitments.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct art and creative classes for adult learners.
- Deliver lessons according to provided course materials and lesson plans.
- Demonstrate art techniques and creative processes clearly.
- Guide learners through exercises and creative projects.
- Provide constructive feedback and support during practical activities.
- Adapt your teaching approach to learners with different abilities and levels of experience.
- Familiarise yourself with the required art style, medium or technique before each assigned class.
- Prepare materials, tools and demonstrations before class.
- Manage the classroom and create a positive, respectful and encouraging learning environment.
- Complete required attendance, assessment and classroom administration.
- Communicate promptly regarding class preparation, learner needs or any issues that may affect delivery.
What We’re Looking For
- A strong foundation in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Design or a related creative discipline.
- Comfort working across different art forms, styles and mediums, or a willingness to develop skills in areas outside your main specialisation.
- Good understanding of colour, composition, form, texture and other visual fundamentals.
- Ability and willingness to learn new techniques when required.
- Confidence in demonstrating and explaining art techniques.
- Ability to facilitate and manage a class effectively.
- Patient, respectful and encouraging approach when working with learners.
- Dependable and responsible, with good preparation, punctuality and follow-through.
- Adaptable and comfortable working with different programmes and classroom situations.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Openness to feedback and continuous learning.
Experience in areas such as painting, drawing, mixed media, textured art, illustration, craft or other visual art practices is an advantage.
Previous teaching, facilitation or workshop experience is preferred but not essential where the candidate can demonstrate strong artistic ability and the capacity to facilitate learning effectively.
What Matters to Us
You don’t need to specialise in every art form.
We’re looking for someone with strong artistic fundamentals and the versatility to work across different creative disciplines. When assigned a new programme or technique, you should be willing to familiarise yourself with it, practise where necessary and come prepared to teach it confidently.
Above all, we value a trainer who is creative, adaptable, respectful and reliable.
Application
Please include a portfolio or examples of your creative work with your application. If applicable, you may also include examples of previous teaching, facilitation or workshop experience.
