The posting
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Relationship Manager to work closely with Relationship Managers in managing and developing relationships with high-net-worth and institutional clients. The role covers client servicing, investment operations, regulatory execution, and business coordination. The successful candidate will exercise sound judgement, take ownership of complex matters, and serve as a trusted point of contact for clients, partner banks, and internal stakeholders.
How you can add value:
- Partner with Relationship Managers in managing client portfolios and day-to-day wealth management activities, ensuring that client requests, transactions, and service matters are handled accurately, promptly, and professionally.
- Act as a principal point of contact for clients on account servicing, transaction status, documentation, reporting, and routine relationship matters, while escalating advisory, suitability, or material relationship issues to the Relationship Manager where appropriate.
- Manage the end-to-end client onboarding and account lifecycle, including account opening, KYC and AML documentation, tax and regulatory forms, periodic reviews, account maintenance, and remediation of documentation gaps.
- Review client instructions and coordinate investment and banking transactions, including securities, funds, bonds, foreign exchange, structured products, deposits, transfers, and other products, subject to the individual’s authority, regulatory status, and the Company’s policies and controls.
- Monitor transactions from instruction through execution, settlement, and reconciliation; identify exceptions, corporate actions, maturities, margin requirements, and other time-sensitive matters, and coordinate timely resolution.
- Support Relationship Managers in preparing for client meetings by consolidating portfolio information, investment holdings, cash positions, maturities, performance data, transaction history, and relevant product or market materials.
- Maintain high standards of client records and management information, including complete audit trails of client communications, instructions, suitability documentation, trade records, account activity, and follow-up actions.
- Apply a strong risk and control mindset by performing appropriate checks, identifying unusual or inconsistent activity, escalating potential compliance or operational concerns, and ensuring adherence to MAS requirements, internal policies, and partner-bank procedures.
- Coordinate with custodian and partner banks, product providers, investment teams, Finance, Compliance, Operations, and other internal functions to resolve complex client, transaction, and account issues.
- Review and reconcile revenue, fee, transaction, and portfolio reports across platforms; investigate discrepancies and support accurate management reporting and billing.
- Contribute to client development and retention by supporting relationship planning, client presentations, investment proposals, pipeline tracking, event preparation, and follow-up on agreed actions.
- Undertake other responsibilities reasonably assigned in support of the Relationship Managers.
What you bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Typically, six or more years of relevant experience in private banking, wealth management, an EAM, a multi-family office, or another MAS-regulated financial institution, including substantial experience supporting high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth clients.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex client servicing, account onboarding, transaction execution, and operational matters independently and with limited supervision.
- Sound understanding of Singapore’s wealth management regulatory framework and control requirements, including KYC, AML, client suitability, data confidentiality, and ongoing due diligence.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other office applications, with practical experience using private-bank e-banking platforms, portfolio reporting systems, and client relationship management tools.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English is required. Proficiency in Mandarin or another Asian language would be advantageous where relevant to the client segment supported.
