Robata Akari is a Japanese robatayaki restaurant focused on quality ingredients, live charcoal-grilling, warm hospitality and a vibrant dining experience.
We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our team and support the Restaurant Manager in the daily operation of the restaurant.
The successful candidate should have strong leadership skills, good service standards and a genuine passion for Japanese hospitality and the F&B industry.
Job Responsibilities
Restaurant Operations
- Support the Restaurant Manager in the daily operation and smooth running of the restaurant.
- Ensure the restaurant maintains high standards of service, cleanliness, food safety and overall presentation.
- Lead and supervise the Front-of-House team during service.
- Conduct pre-service briefings and ensure the team is well prepared for each service.
- Monitor reservations, table allocation, guest flow and service timing.
- Handle operational issues and guest requests professionally and efficiently.
- Ensure restaurant opening and closing procedures are properly followed.
- Assist with stock, inventory and operational checks when required.
Guest Experience & Service
- Deliver warm, attentive and professional hospitality to every guest.
- Build good relationships with regular guests and understand their preferences.
- Handle guest feedback and service recovery confidently and professionally.
- Maintain consistent service standards throughout the dining experience.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth communication between FOH and BOH.
Sales & Business Performance
- Support the Restaurant Manager in achieving monthly sales and business targets.
- Lead the FOH team in effective menu knowledge, recommendations and upselling.
- Encourage the team to improve average spending per guest through appropriate food and beverage recommendations.
- Monitor daily sales performance and identify opportunities to improve revenue.
- Support promotional activities, special events and restaurant marketing initiatives.
Team Leadership & Training
- Coach, train and motivate FOH team members.
- Monitor staff performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure new team members receive proper orientation and on-the-job training.
- Lead by example and maintain a positive and professional working environment.
- Assist the Restaurant Manager with staff scheduling and manpower planning.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of F&B experience, with supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Experience in a restaurant, Japanese restaurant or premium/semi-fine dining environment is an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confident in handling guests and resolving service issues.
- Good leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
- Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail.
- Customer-oriented with a positive and hands-on attitude.
- Able to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Willing to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
- Knowledge of Japanese food, sake or Japanese hospitality is an advantage.
- Good English communication skills.
