Are you passionate about working with children with diverse learning needs and making a meaningful difference in their development?

Bridging the Gap is expanding our Special Education team as we prepare to offer Early Intervention (EI) and After-School Care (ASC) programmes across our three centres in 2027.

We are looking for caring, patient and enthusiastic Assistant Special Education Teachers to support our educators and therapists in delivering engaging and meaningful learning experiences for children with developmental and learning needs.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children, are eager to learn and wish to build a career in early intervention and special education.

Key Responsibilities

Early Intervention

  • Assist Lead Teachers in implementing Individualised Educational Plans (IEPs) based on each child's developmental needs and learning goals.
  • Support individual and small-group learning activities focusing on communication, cognition, social-emotional development, self-help and pre-academic skills.
  • Prepare teaching materials, visual supports and learning resources to facilitate lessons and activities.
  • Provide guidance and encouragement to children during classroom activities, transitions and daily routines.
  • Support the implementation of positive behaviour management strategies under the guidance of teachers and therapists.
  • Assist with observations, documentation and tracking of children's developmental progress.
  • Help maintain a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment.

After-School Care (ASC)

  • Support the daily operations of the After-School Care programme for primary school-aged children with diverse learning needs.
  • Assist children with homework, literacy, numeracy and enrichment activities.
  • Facilitate social interaction, independent living skills and age-appropriate recreational activities.
  • Guide children in developing appropriate classroom behaviours, emotional regulation and daily living routines.
  • Supervise children during meals, play, transitions, arrivals and dismissals to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Assist in preparing and organising learning materials, activities and classroom resources.

Team Collaboration & Classroom Support

  • Work closely with Special Education Teachers, Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Educational Therapists to support children's learning and development.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate attendance records, daily observations and relevant programme documentation.
  • Support classroom organisation, preparation of teaching materials and upkeep of learning environments.
  • Participate in team meetings, case discussions and training sessions where appropriate.
  • Communicate children's daily observations and concerns to supervising teachers.
  • Support centre activities, caregiver engagement initiatives and other programme-related events.

Who We're Looking For

  • Minimum GCE 'O' Level, Nitec, Higher Nitec or Diploma qualification. Qualifications in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Psychology or related fields are an advantage.
  • Prior experience working with children, particularly those with developmental delays or special educational needs, is preferred but not essential.
  • Fresh graduates and individuals interested in pursuing a career in special education or early intervention are welcome to apply.
  • Patient, compassionate and genuinely interested in supporting children with diverse learning needs.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Responsible, adaptable and willing to learn new teaching strategies and approaches.
  • Comfortable assisting children with daily routines, self-help skills and classroom activities.
  • Able to work across our centres and on schedules that may include after-school hours.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • First Aid certification is an advantage. Training may be provided.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and employee benefits.
  • Structured on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced Special Education Teachers and allied health professionals.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression towards a Special Education Teacher role.
  • Exposure to both Early Intervention and After-School Care programmes.
  • A supportive and collaborative transdisciplinary working environment.
  • Access to teaching resources, learning materials and sensory facilities.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
