The posting

The Assistant General Manager (Sales) is a senior sales leader responsible for a major channel or multi-channel portfolio within commercial operation. Leading Channel Managers, Key Account Executives, and field sales teams, the AGM drives revenue, distribution, and in-store execution for assigned principals. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on field leadership — spending significant time in the trade while shaping sales strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and deliver revenue targets for assigned channel(s) across all principals.
  • Drive distribution reach, coverage, and in-store execution.
  • Translate quarterly business plans into monthly execution roadmaps.
  • Drive distribution targets within assigned channel(s): numeric distribution, weighted distribution, and new product distribution for all principals.
  • Enforce in-store visibility standards within the segment: shelf share, POSM deployment, brand block, and planogram compliance.
  • Drive display execution: off-shelf displays, gondola ends, and promotional displays — achieving principal and company targets.
  • Ensure all promotional activities are executed with 100% hit-rate as deployed by principals or per company objectives.
  • Enforce correct shelf pricing within assigned channel(s) per principal-deployed pricing grids. Monitor and resolve deviations.
  • Own relationships with assigned key accounts. Lead customer reviews.
  • Co-develop joint business plans. Negotiate within delegated authority.
  • Ensure 100% hit-rate on trade plans within assigned scope.
  • Monitor promotional spending within budget. Optimise ROI.
  • Deploy initiatives and promotional mechanisms to the team.
  • Drive collection discipline within assigned accounts.
  • Escalate overdue accounts proactively.
  • Lead, coach, and develop 3–5 direct and 10–20 indirect reports.
  • Regular field accompaniment and coaching.
  • Identify and develop future leaders.
  • Drive perfect store execution: planogram compliance, displays, freshness.
  • Coordinate with merchandising teams.
  • Optimise routes, collage, and productivity within the segment.
  • Weekly/monthly reports and analysis to DGM/GM.
  • Use dashboards and data to identify opportunities.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum 8–10 years in FMCG sales/distribution, including 2–3 years in people management (Sales Manager, Channel Manager, or equivalent).
  • Consistent above-target performance for 2+consecutive years at Manager level.
  • Multi-channel sales experience in Singapore retail (NTUC, Sheng Siong, DFI, convenience, e-commerce).
  • Multinational FMCG principal engagement experience preferred.
