Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced SAN and Storage Administrator with strong hands-on expertise in Brocade SAN switches and Hitachi enterprise storage systems. The candidate will be responsible for SAN infrastructure management, storage provisioning, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring high availability of mission-critical storage environments.

Key Responsibilities

Brocade SAN Administration

  • Administer and maintain Brocade Fibre Channel SAN switches and fabrics.
  • Perform zoning activities, including WWN zoning, alias creation, zone configuration, and activation.
  • Configure and manage ISLs, trunking, and E-ports.
  • Monitor switch health, port utilization, fabric performance, and error counters.
  • Perform firmware upgrades, switch configuration backups, and code-level maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot SAN connectivity, link failures, CRC errors, congestion, and fabric-related issues.
  • Manage Brocade tools such as Web Tools and Fabric OS CLI.

Hitachi Storage Administration

  • Administer Hitachi enterprise storage systems, including VSP (Virtual Storage Platform) arrays.
  • Perform LUN provisioning, host group configuration, and LUN masking and mapping.
  • Configure and manage storage pools, RAID groups, and Dynamic Provisioning pools.
  • Manage Thin Provisioning, Dynamic Tiering, and storage capacity allocation.
  • Monitor storage performance, utilization, and system health.
  • Perform storage replication and disaster recovery operations using TrueCopy and Universal Replicator, where applicable.
  • Troubleshoot host-to-storage connectivity and storage performance issues.
  • Support storage microcode upgrades, configuration changes, and planned maintenance.

SAN and Storage Operations

  • Configure and troubleshoot Fibre Channel connectivity between servers, SAN switches, and storage arrays.
  • Coordinate with VMware, Windows, Linux, database, and server teams for storage-related activities.
  • Perform incident, problem, and change management according to ITIL processes.
  • Maintain SAN topology diagrams, zoning records, storage allocation reports, and operational documentation.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing, business continuity activities, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Ensure adherence to security policies, change control procedures, and operational SLAs.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong experience in Brocade SAN switches and Fabric OS.
  • Hands-on experience with zoning, aliases, zonesets/configurations, ISLs, and fabric troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Hitachi VSP storage administration.
  • Knowledge of LUN provisioning, host groups, storage pools, RAID, and thin provisioning.
  • Understanding of Fibre Channel, WWPN/WWNN, HBA, multipathing, and SAN architecture.
  • Experience with storage replication and disaster recovery concepts.
  • Familiarity with SAN monitoring, performance analysis, and capacity management.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux host connectivity.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Hitachi Ops Center and Storage Navigator.
  • Knowledge of Hitachi TrueCopy and Universal Replicator.
  • Experience with Brocade SANnav or other SAN monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with VMware vSphere and enterprise backup solutions.
  • Knowledge of ITIL incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data centers and 24/7 production environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant experience in SAN and enterprise storage administration.
  • Vendor certifications in Brocade networking or Hitachi storage are an advantage.

Experience

Typically, 4–8 years of experience in SAN and enterprise storage administration, depending on the role's seniority and environment.
