Job Summary

Read blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to assess surfaces and determine the scope of work and materials required. Prepare and paint various surfaces on-site while ensuring high-quality finishes and compliance with workplace safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Examine surfaces to determine the type and amount of preparation and painting work required.
  • Build scaffolding and cover floors, fixtures, and surrounding areas to ensure safe and proper work preparation.
  • Prepare walls and other surfaces by scraping, sanding, cleaning, and removing old paint.
  • Fill cracks, holes, and uneven surfaces using plaster or other suitable materials.
  • Mix paints and other materials to achieve the required colour, texture, and consistency.
  • Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, caulking guns, and other appropriate tools.
  • Calculate required materials and project costs when necessary.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Perform other painting and related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in painting, preferably in the construction or commercial sector.
  • Good knowledge of painting materials and the ability to select, mix, and apply them correctly.
  • Knowledge of surface preparation and construction painting techniques.
  • Able to use painting tools and equipment such as brushes, rollers, caulking guns, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Good manual dexterity and balance, with the ability to work safely at heights.
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual work.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Able to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
