Bunker Trader (37917) Location: One Raffles Place

Our client is a Japanese trading company engaged in the supply and distribution of a diverse range of products, including steel, non-ferrous metals, food products, fuel, chemicals, lumber and machinery.

They are seeking an Assistant Trader (Bunker / Marine Fuel Trading) to support and expand their bunker trading activities, develop business opportunities and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers.

This position reports directly to the General Manager.

【Responsibilities】

- Develop and maintain strong business relationships with shipowners, ship managers, charterers and marine industry customers to support business growth.

- Identify new business opportunities and expand the company's customer base within the bunker trading sector.

- Source bunker fuel products from suppliers and negotiate competitive pricing, commercial terms and supply arrangements.

- Manage end-to-end bunker trading transactions, including quotation preparation, price negotiations, order confirmations and delivery coordination.

- Monitor bunker fuel prices, market developments, supply availability and customer demand to identify potential trading opportunities.

- Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient bunker fuel deliveries.

- Monitor trading margins, transaction profitability and commercial exposure to support effective risk management.

- Establish and maintain a reliable network of bunker suppliers and industry contacts across Singapore and regional markets.

- Prepare and maintain relevant trading documentation, transaction records and market updates.

- Perform other trading and business development responsibilities as assigned.

【Requirements & Preferences】

- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Shipping, Supply Chain Management, Finance or a related discipline.

- At least 3 years of relevant experience in bunker trading, marine fuel trading, shipping or related commercial functions.

- Good understanding of bunker fuel products, market pricing, trading practices and marine fuel delivery processes.

- Strong commercial awareness, negotiation skills and relationship management capabilities.

- Good analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate trading opportunities and commercial risks.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

- Able to work independently, manage multiple transactions and meet deadlines in a fast-paced trading environment.

- Willingness to support time-sensitive trading transactions and operational requirements outside standard office hours when necessary.

(Advantageous)

- Established business network involving shipowners, ship managers, charterers, bunker suppliers or other relevant marine industry stakeholders.

- Availability to commence employment at short notice.
