The posting

SY Foodstuffs and Trading is a progressive food distribution and automated retail company in Singapore. We bridge the gap between daily essential consumer goods and modern convenience. From supplying core staples like beverages, bakery items, and fresh eggs to traditional retail networks, to pioneering smart vending machine solutions in high-traffic hubs, we are shaping the future of micro-retail.

We are looking for a high-energy Business Development Executive who thrives in the field, loves the thrill of closing deals, and wants to play a pivotal role in scaling our dual-channel growth strategy.

This is not a passive account-management desk job. You will be operating on the front lines of Singapore's vibrant food landscape. Your time will be split between expanding our wholesale distribution footprint and hunting for prime real estate to deploy our automated retail/vending machines.

  • Reports To: Business Development Manager / Director
  • Location: Singapore (Field-based / Office in Great World)
  • Key Mission: Increase product volume in traditional stores while simultaneously securing high-footfall footprint for our vending machine fleet.

Core Responsibilities

1. Traditional Trade & FMCG Expansion (Minimarts,Canteens, Coffeeshops)

  • B2B Customer Acquisition: Actively cold-call, door-knock, and pitch to independent minimarts, coffeeshop operators, industrial canteens, and small-format grocers across Singapore.
  • Volume & Margin Growth: Secure opening orders and establish recurring delivery schedules for our core product lines (Beverages, Bakery, Eggs, and assorted FMCG goods).
  • Merchandising & Relationship Management: Conduct regular site visits to ensure prominent product placement, manage stock rotations, resolve credit/payment queries with shop owners, and build bulletproof rapport.
  • Market Mapping: Identify underserved areas and map out competitor pricing strategies to keep our offerings highly competitive.

2. Automated Retail & Vending Machine Site Acquisition

  • Location Scouting: Conduct market research and foot-traffic analysis to identify high-yielding spots for vending machine placement (e.g., student campuses, staff canteens, transport hubs, major coffee shops).
  • Landlord & Institutional B2B Pitching: Approach, pitch, and present automated retail solutions to corporate landlords, school boards, and property management committees.
  • Contract Negotiation: Navigate and secure favorable lease agreements, revenue-sharing models, or space rental terms.
  • Deployment Coordination: Act as the project lead for new installations—coordinating with landlords for power/space requirements and collaborating with our internal logistics team to ensure a seamless launch.
  • Data-Driven Optimization: Monitor post-deployment sales data to recommend adjustments in product mix or machine relocation if targets aren't met.

What Success Looks Like (KPIs)

  • New Doors Opened: Consistent monthly acquisition of new minimart/canteen wholesale accounts.
  • Successful Machine Deployments: Meeting quarterly targets for newly signed and operational vending machine locations.
  • Account Retention & Growth: Maintaining low churn among existing B2B clients and increasing average order values over time.

Requirements: Who You Are

  • The Experience: 2+ years of hardcore field sales experience in Singapore. Experience in FMCG distribution, food supply chains, or commercial real estate/vending space acquisition is highly valued.
  • The Hustle: You are comfortable walking the ground, building quick rapport with traditional shop owners (ability to communicate effectively in local languages/dialects is a major advantage), while still being polished enough to pitch to a corporate landlord or school administrator.
  • The Commercial Mindset: You understand margins, cost of goods sold (COGS), rental overheads, and basic contract terms.
  • The Tech/Data Comfort: Ability to use CRM tools and basic Excel/data to look at vending sales trends.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
