Position Overview
The CGI will be responsible for maintaining high standards of ground training quality, instructor standardisation, regulatory compliance and trainee performance. The successful candidate must have a strong aviation background, relevant instructional experience and be acceptable to CAAS for the appointment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the qualification, standardisation, competency and currency of Ground Instructors.
- Conduct and oversee ground training and theoretical knowledge instruction in accordance with approved training programmes.
- Develop, review and standardise training course materials, syllabi, lesson plans and instructor guidance materials.
- Ensure all ground training activities comply with applicable CAAS regulations, company procedures and approved training standards.
- Conduct regular assessments of Ground Instructor competency and proficiency.
- Monitor training quality and ensure consistent standards are maintained across all instructors and courses.
- Coordinate with the Head of Training on the development and implementation of cadet and pilot training programmes.
- Support the development and implementation of training policies, procedures and standardisation programmes.
- Monitor and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and recommend improvements where required.
- Coordinate instructor scheduling, examinations and training activities to ensure approved procedures are followed.
- Prepare and maintain course syllabi, theoretical examinations, training records and trainee progress reports in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Ensure training records and instructor qualification records are accurate, complete and current.
- Liaise matters relating to the Quality Plan and training quality assurance.
- Liaise with contracted organisations and relevant stakeholders on course planning and training requirements.
- Conduct regular meetings with trainees and instructors to obtain feedback and identify areas for improvement.
- Identify training deficiencies, compliance gaps and areas requiring corrective or remedial action.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, discipline, professionalism and continuous improvement.
- Perform other training-related duties as assigned by the Head of Training.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant aviation background and ground instructional experience.
- Completed an appropriate Ground Instructor / instructional techniques training course, or possess extensive previous experience in ground instruction.
- Demonstrated experience in ground training and theoretical knowledge instruction.
- Experience in instructor standardisation, competency assessment and training quality assurance.
- Good knowledge of CAAS requirements and TRTO/ATO training standards.
- Experience in developing and maintaining training syllabi, course materials, examinations and training documentation.
- Strong understanding of SOPs, training procedures and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience as a Chief Ground Instructor, Ground Instructor or equivalent.
- Previous experience within a CAAS-approved TRTO/ATO or airline training organisation.
- Experience in A320 / Airbus training would be an advantage.
- Experience in CBTA (Competency-Based Training and Assessment) would be an advantage.
- Experience supporting CAAS audits, inspections and regulatory approvals.
- Experience in instructor standardisation and competency-based assessment.
- Experience working with flight crew training programmes, theoretical knowledge examinations and simulator/flight training programmes.
