Team: ERP Cloud & Infrastructure Practice
About JJW
JJW is a technology implementation company specialising in ERP solutions. We help organisations select, implement, migrate, integrate, and support ERP platforms, taking clients from assessment and design through to go-live and post-go-live support.
Job Summary
JJW is looking for a hands-on Cloud Architect to design and deliver the cloud infrastructure that our clients' ERP systems run on. This is a client-facing, hybrid role. You will shape the infrastructure and integration architecture during presales and design, then lead the build, migration, and go-live.
You will own the technical foundation of ERP engagements: hosting and sizing ERP environments on AWS, migrating ERP workloads and data from on-premise or legacy systems, building integrations between the ERP and surrounding applications, and making sure systems meet performance, availability, security, and disaster recovery requirements. You will work closely with functional ERP consultants, technical and integration developers, project managers, client IT teams, and our sales and partner teams.
Key Responsibilities
ERP Cloud Architecture
• Design AWS architectures for ERP workloads, covering production and non-production landscapes (development, test, QA, training, and production).
• Size compute, storage, and database resources based on ERP vendor guidance, user counts, transaction volumes, and growth plans.
• Design for high availability and disaster recovery that meets agreed RPO and RTO targets, including backup, replication, and failover strategies for ERP application and database tiers.
• Design hybrid connectivity between client sites, warehouses, factories, and the cloud ERP environment.
• Produce high-level and detailed infrastructure designs, architecture decision records, and environment build specifications.
• Build and maintain JJW's reusable ERP reference architectures, Infrastructure-as-Code modules, and environment templates so each implementation starts faster.
ERP Migration & Integration
• Plan and execute ERP migrations from on-premise or legacy systems to AWS, including infrastructure migration, database migration, and cutover planning.
• Work with data migration teams on tooling, staging environments, and validation pipelines for master and transactional data loads.
• Design and build integrations between the ERP and other systems such as CRM, e-commerce, warehouse management, manufacturing execution, banking, EDI, and reporting platforms, using APIs, middleware, and event-driven services.
• Plan and run go-live cutovers, including rehearsals, rollback plans, and hyper care support.
• Set up reporting and analytics data pipelines from the ERP into data warehouses or BI tools.
Presales & Engagement Support
• Support the sales team with infrastructure and integration solution designs, hosting cost estimates, effort estimates, and statements of work.
• Present architecture and hosting options to client IT teams and senior decision-makers, explaining cost, performance, and risk trade-offs.
• Identify technical risks early, such as legacy data quality, integration complexity, or network constraints, and set clear delivery assumptions.
• Contribute to AWS and ERP vendor partner programmes and funded migration engagements where applicable.
Engineering Delivery
• Lead and contribute to the build: write code, review changes, and unblock engineers rather than only directing work.
• Build and manage AWS infrastructure and services, including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, ELB, RDS, EFS, FSx , S3, KMS, Secrets Manager, Event Bridge, and CloudWatch.
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and CloudFormation to build ERP environments consistently and repeatably.
• Build CI/CD pipelines (GitLab or the client's tooling) for integrations, extensions, and infrastructure changes, and automate operations using Python, Ansible, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Automate routine ERP operations such as environment refreshes, system copies, start/stop scheduling for non-production systems, backups, and patching.
• Tune performance across the application, database, and network layers, and troubleshoot complex issues in client environments with root cause analysis.
• Hand over solutions cleanly to client IT teams or managed services, with runbooks, monitoring, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
Security & Governance
• Design secure ERP environments with least-privilege access, encryption at rest and in transit, secrets management, network segmentation, and strong identity controls, including single sign-on.
• Protect sensitive ERP data such as financial, payroll, HR, customer, and supplier records, in line with each client's data protection and residency requirements.
• Implement security controls including IAM, KMS, CloudTrail, Guard Duty, Security Hub, and network security controls.
• Support clients through financial and IT audits by providing logging, access reviews, change records, and backup evidence.
• Set up governance guardrails, tagging standards, and cost controls so clients can manage ERP hosting costs after handover.
Basic Qualifications
• 7–8+ years in cloud architecture and engineering, with at least 3 years delivering infrastructure or integrations for ERP implementations in a consulting or systems integration role.
• Hands-on experience hosting and migrating at least one major ERP platform on AWS, such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Infor, Epicor, or Odoo.
• Strong hands-on AWS expertise across compute, containers, serverless, databases, storage, networking, and security services.
• Strong understanding of AWS networking, including VPC design, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPN, routing, and hybrid connectivity.
• Experience designing high availability, backup, and disaster recovery for business-critical systems.
• Experience with integration patterns and tools such as REST and SOAP APIs, middleware, message queues, and file-based or EDI integrations.
• Proficiency in Python plus at least one of Ansible, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Strong experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as GitLab, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
• Good working knowledge of relational databases used by ERP systems, such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA.
• Excellent communication skills, with confidence working alongside functional consultants and presenting to client IT and finance leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
• AWS certifications: Solutions Architect – Professional, DevOps Engineer – Professional, Security – Specialty, or SAP on AWS – Specialty.
• ERP vendor technical certifications, such as SAP Basis or SAP Technology, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Experience with integration platforms such as MuleSoft, Boomi, SAP Integration Suite, or Azure Integration Services.
• Experience with ERP data migration tooling and large-scale data loads.
• Experience applying generative AI to ERP processes on AWS, such as Bedrock for document processing, invoice matching, or user assistants.
• Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and CloudWatch.
• Familiarity with multi-cloud environments (Azure or OCI), particularly where clients run vendor-hosted ERP alongside AWS.
• Industry experience in manufacturing, distribution, retail, or financial services ERP implementations.
