Job Summary
The Construction Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects to ensure works are carried out safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements, drawings, and specifications. The role involves close coordination with project managers, site teams, consultants, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Execution
- Assist the Project Manager in planning, execution, and monitoring of construction activities.
- Coordinate daily site operations to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to project schedule.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and method statements to ensure accuracy and constructability.
- Prepare work schedules, progress reports, and site records.
Technical & Site Support
- Provide technical support to site teams and subcontractors.
- Monitor construction works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Identify and resolve technical issues arising on site in a timely manner.
- Assist in design coordination and submission of shop drawings and technical documents.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure works are carried out in compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and statutory requirements.
- Conduct site inspections and assist in quality control checks.
- Support implementation of QA/QC procedures and rectification of defects.
Subcontractor & Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate and liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and relevant authorities.
- Assist in monitoring subcontractor performance and progress.
- Attend site meetings and prepare meeting minutes when required.
Cost & Documentation
- Assist in tracking project costs, variations, and material usage.
- Support preparation of progress claims, variation orders, and as-built documentation.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of project records.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant construction site experience (experience with main contractor preferred).
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of construction methods, drawings, and specifications.
- Familiar with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office; knowledge of project management software is an advantage.
