Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Data CentreResident Engineer to join our team in Singapore. In this role, you will beresponsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our data centerinfrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security of ourcritical systems. As a resident engineer, you will provide on-site technicalsupport and be the first point of contact for operational issues, workingefficiently to resolve incidents and maintain our infrastructure at peakperformance.
- Conduct regular physical inspections of IT infrastructureand equipment
- Monitor and report on the operational status of systems,servers, and network devices
- Identify and escalate hardware issues or anomalies to theappropriate technical teams
- Document findings and maintain accurate health checkrecords
- Provide secure escort services for authorised personnel,vendors, and contractors within restricted data centre areas
- Verify access credentials and ensure compliance withsecurity protocols
- Maintain visitor logs and ensure all escorted activitiesadhere to facility security policies
- Safely handle and relocate IT equipment, servers, andhardware within the data centre
- Coordinate with technical teams to ensure proper handlingprocedures
- Update asset inventory and configuration records followingequipment moves
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and minimiseoperational disruption
- Perform tape backup operations, including loading,unloading, and storage of backup media
- Follow established backup schedules and procedures
- Verify backup completion and report any failures or issues
- Maintain secure storage and proper labelling of backuptapes
- Coordinate with off-site storage vendors as required
- Respond to urgent on-site support requests from remotetechnical teams
- Assist with KMS (Key Management System) access requests
- Support GDC (Government Data Centre) security sealrequests and verification
- Manage rack access permissions and maintain the RE RackAccess List
- Perform other operational tasks as assigned to supportdata centre operations
Qualifications
- Proven experience in data center operations or ITinfrastructure management
- Strong knowledge of server hardware, networking equipment,and data center architecture
- Proficiency with monitoring and alerting systems commonlyused in data center environments
- Solid understanding of physical infrastructure componentsincluding cooling, power distribution, and backup systems
- Experience with incident response and troubleshootingmethodologies
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication skills and ability to workcollaboratively with technical teams
- Preferred: ITIL certification or equivalent industrycertification
- Preferred: Experience with data center management toolsand software
- Preferred: Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO27001 or Uptime Institute best practices
- Preferred: Experience with virtualization platforms andcloud infrastructure
