Job Description: 24/7 Data Centre Operator

Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Data Centre Operator to support daily data centre operations, server hardware maintenance, infrastructure installation, and access management. The successful candidate will perform hardware replacements, server installation and decommissioning, cabling activities, and operational monitoring while ensuring compliance with established procedures and data centre security requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Data Centre Hardware & Infrastructure Operations

  • Perform server installation, decommissioning, and equipment relocation activities.
  • Conduct hardware replacement and troubleshooting, including RAM/DIMM, HDD, NIC cards, PSUs, and SFP modules.
  • Support Power Distribution Unit (PDU) installation and related infrastructure activities.
  • Perform cross-connect (X-connect) cable termination, patching, and cable management.
  • Carry out other hardware maintenance and replacement tasks as required.
  • Support Maintenance, Fault, and Audit (MFA) activities as required.
  • Ensure all installation, replacement, and maintenance activities are performed in accordance with approved procedures and safety standards.

Data Centre Systems & Access Management

  • Manage and administer GVMS, Remedy, and EasyLobby systems for operational and access-related requirements.
  • Monitor CCTV systems and escalate suspicious activities or security incidents.
  • Manage Singtel data centre access and delivery arrangements at Nxera facilities, ensuring compliance with access control procedures.
  • Coordinate visitor access, delivery schedules, and data centre entry requirements with relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of access requests, deliveries, equipment movements, and operational activities.

Operational Support & Documentation

  • Monitor daily data centre operations and respond to operational requests in a timely manner.
  • Log, track, and update incidents, service requests, and operational activities in the relevant ticketing systems.
  • Coordinate with internal technical teams, vendors, and service providers to resolve hardware and infrastructure issues.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work logs, and shift handover documentation.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), security policies, and escalation procedures.

Job Requirements

  • Nitec, Higher Nitec, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in data centre operations, server hardware support, or IT infrastructure maintenance is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with server hardware components, including RAM/DIMM, HDD, NIC cards, PSUs, and SFP modules, is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with server installation, decommissioning, cabling, patching, and PDU installation.
  • Experience with GVMS, Remedy, EasyLobby, CCTV monitoring, or data centre access management systems is an advantage.
  • Good understanding of data centre security, equipment handling, and operational procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to follow established SOPs.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays, where required.
