The posting
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and implement Distributed Antenna System (DAS), BTS, Remote Units (RUs), fibre optic networks, RF feeders, antennas, splitters, couplers, and passive RF components.
- Prepare engineering documents including system design, method statements, installation drawings, RF calculations, testing procedures, and as-built documentation.
- Coordinate with Mobile Network Operators on system integration, acceptance testing, and commissioning activities.
- Conduct RF site surveys, coverage analysis, drive tests, walk tests, and troubleshooting using industry-standard tools.
- Analyse KPIs such as RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, throughput, call setup success rate, handover success rate, ERAB success rate, and interference levels.
- Investigate RF issues including Passive Intermodulation (PIM), interference, VSWR, feeder losses, fibre attenuation, and hardware faults.
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP), and Integrated System Testing (IST).
- Coordinate night engineering works during MRT engineering hours, ensuring compliance with track access procedures and railway safety regulations.
- Liaise with civil, electrical, signalling, and rail operation teams to coordinate installation activities and project interfaces.
- Supervise subcontractors to ensure installation quality, workmanship, and compliance with project specifications.
- Monitor project progress and prepare technical reports, progress updates, risk assessments, and engineering documentation.
- Ensure all works comply with Authority requirements, workplace safety regulations, and project quality management systems.
- Support fault investigations and emergency restoration activities when required.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in RF engineering, mobile communication systems, or Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).
- Knowledge of LTE, 5G NR, GSM, UMTS, and RF propagation principles.
- Familiarity with RF testing equipment such as spectrum analysers, PIM analysers, cable and antenna analysers, OTDRs, and power meters.
- Experience with RF optimisation tools such as Nemo Handy, or similar drive test software is advantageous.
- Understanding of fibre optic systems, BTS equipment, remote radio units, and passive RF infrastructure.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Good communication and coordination skills with multiple stakeholders.
- Willingness to perform night works within MRT operational engineering hours when required.
