The posting
About Amber Amber is a next-generation preschool in the heart of Katong where inquiry isn't an add-on – it is the curriculum. Children think deeply, move confidently and grow with empathy through inquiry-based and project-based learning, social-emotional learning, and our Mind • Body • Soul approach. Small ratios, sensory-smart spaces, and outdoor sessions at East Coast Park twice a week. We're a young, founder-led school with an Asia expansion roadmap and early team members shape what Amber becomes.
The Role You will lead the English side of our bilingual classroom. Your job is to make English a language children use – to ask questions, tell stories, negotiate with friends, and explain their thinking – not a subject they sit through. You'll co-design learning with a Mandarin partner teacher so children experience one coherent inquiry in two languages.
What You'll Do
- Design and lead English-medium provocations, projects and daily routines that build oral language, early literacy and a love of books.
- Create a rich English-speaking environment – conversation, storytelling, song, drama, print – where children's own questions drive what comes next.
- Document children's thinking through learning stories, observations and portfolios; share progress with parents clearly and constructively.
- Plan and teach collaboratively with your Mandarin co-teacher so both languages carry the same inquiry.
- Embed SEL and wellness practices into the day – regulation, empathy, independence.
- Keep a safe, calm, beautifully prepared classroom that invites exploration.
- Take part in school events, parent-teacher conferences and our in-house professional development.
What You Bring
- ECDA-recognised Early Childhood qualification for the English-language track — e.g. ACEY, DECCE-T, or an ECDA-recognised Early Childhood diploma/degree — with ECDA registration (or eligibility) as an EY/EC Educator.
- Fluent, articulate spoken and written English that meets ECDA's language proficiency requirement for English-medium teaching.
- Experience in or appetite for inquiry-based, project-based or play-based practice. We train suitable candidates — curiosity matters more than a matching CV.
- Strong observation and documentation skills; comfortable talking to parents.
- Warm, creative, reflective, and good at working as a pair.
Why Amber
- Real pedagogical freedom: you plan from children's questions, not from a workbook.
- Small groups and a co-teaching model – you're never alone in the room.
- Structured professional development in inquiry practice, documentation, and mind-body-soul approaches, led by an experienced Principal.
- Outdoors twice a week, East Coast Park as an extended classroom.
- A tight, supportive founding team and a school that is still being built – your ideas land.
- Katong location, easy access from the East.
To apply, send your CV and we look forward hearing from you.
