SUMMARY OF ROLE
The role supports the firm’s senior equity analysts in researching global listed companies and developing investment recommendations for the portfolio management team (led by the Chief Investment Officer) and internal clients.
Alignment with the firm’s investment philosophy and process is essential. Working closely with the senior equity analysts, the analyst is expected to focus their research efforts on the achievement of the team’s investment objectives and agreed research priorities.
The role requires strong analytical and financial modelling skills, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. We welcome generalist analysts who combine breadth of knowledge with the willingness to build deep sector expertise through rigorous research.
MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with senior equity analysts to screen stock ideas, idea generation, due diligence and bottom-up fundamental analysis on listed companies and develop recommendations consistent with investment process.
- Conduct financial and qualitative due diligence, including engagement with company management, competitors, suppliers, and customers where possible.
- Prepare financial models and written investment recommendations incorporating financial analysis and qualitative findings.
- Monitor portfolio companies and relevant sector, market and economic conditions and assess their investment implications.
- Engage and communicate effectively with the key stakeholders – Chief Investment Officer, Portfolio Manager, and internal clients – to drive optimal investment outcomes. Forums include boardroom meetings, group or one-on-one sessions facilitated by investment reports and pitch deck presentations.
- Assisting the portfolio managers with the management of the equity portfolios.
- Exercise independent analytical judgment and work with a high degree of autonomy.
QUALIFICATION & SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelor degree in a related field with additional professional certification e.g. CFA preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience of fundamental equity research, preferably on the buy-side, with demonstrated expertise in sectors previously covered
- Strong financial modelling experience, backed by a strong understanding of valuation and accounting methodologies, industry dynamics and equity markets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and Bloomberg.
- Responsible use of AI to improve research efficiency and quality is an advantage, subject to source verification and confidentiality requirements.
