About the role
The Trade Operations Executive is responsible for the end-to-end execution of physical commodity trades after deal conclusion. The role serves as a key control point between Commercial, Finance, Treasury, Logistics, Vessel Management, Surveyors, Banks, Suppliers and Customers to ensure contractual compliance, operational excellence and timely cash collection.
Key responsibilities
- Execute physical cargo trades in accordance with approved contracts, deal recaps, costing sheets and company procedures.
- Review sales and purchase contracts to identify operational, documentary and payment requirements.
- Coordinate loading, transportation, transshipment and discharge activities with suppliers, customers, terminals and vessel operators.
- Review, draft and process Import and Export Letters of Credit.
- Ensure LC terms are workable, commercially acceptable and compliant with company guidelines.
- Liaise with banks, treasury teams, suppliers and customers on LC issuance, amendments, negotiations and discrepancies.
- Prepare, review and coordinate Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, Quality and Quantity Certificates, Delivery Orders, Letters of Indemnity, Survey Reports and other shipping and trade documents.
- Issue voyage instructions and documentary instructions.
- Monitor customer and supplier payment obligations and follow up on LC establishment, bank guarantees, TT payments and collections.
- Act as the first line of operational control against contractual and commercial risks.
About you
- Degree or Diploma in Business, Maritime Studies, Supply Chain, International Trade, Banking & Finance or related disciplines.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Trade Operations, Commodity Trading, Trade Finance, Shipping Operations or Supply Chain Execution.
- Strong working knowledge of Letters of Credit (Import & Export LC), UCP 600, Trade Finance Documentation, International Shipping Documents, Incoterms and Documentary Compliance.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
- Able to work under tight shipment and banking deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive, commercially aware and able to identify risks before escalation.
- Able to manage multiple trades simultaneously with high accuracy.
