The posting

Our client is a leading semiconductor manufacturing facility operating advanced wafer fabrication processes and highly automated cleanroom environments. They are seeking an experienced Facilities Mechanical Senior Manager to lead the operation, reliability, optimisation and expansion of critical mechanical facilities systems supporting wafer fab operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the operation, maintenance, reliability and optimisation of facilities mechanical systems supporting semiconductor wafer fab operations.
  • Oversee critical process-support systems including Process Cooling Water (PCW), exhaust systems, Airborne Molecular Contaminant (AMC) systems, process water and ultrapure water (UPW) treatment systems, HVAC and associated mechanical utilities.
  • Lead facilities expansion, upgrading and optimisation projects, ensuring safe, reliable and cost-effective delivery in a wafer fabrication environment.
  • Manage engineering teams, contractors and service providers to ensure robust system performance, operational readiness and compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Drive energy-efficiency and sustainability initiatives while managing CAPEX, OPEX, manpower and operational budgets within approved targets.
  • Act as the technical authority for complex mechanical facilities issues, providing expert analysis, troubleshooting and recommendations to maintain system reliability.
  • Monitor system performance, preventive maintenance activities, equipment reliability, service contracts, spare parts, energy consumption and operational expenditure.
  • Lead improvement initiatives to enhance system capacity, reliability, efficiency and resilience in line with wafer fab production requirements.
  • Ensure facilities mechanical systems comply with relevant statutory, safety, environmental and semiconductor manufacturing standards.
  • Collaborate closely with process, equipment, engineering and other facilities teams to support continuous wafer fab operations and minimise production impact.

Requirements

  • Minimum Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in facilities engineering/management, preferably within a semiconductor wafer fabrication plant or other highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hands-on and managerial expertise in PCW, exhaust systems, AMC systems, process water/UPW treatment systems and other critical mechanical utilities.
  • Strong understanding of wafer fab operations and the role of facilities systems in supporting semiconductor manufacturing processes.
  • Proven experience managing facilities expansion, optimisation, reliability improvement and energy-reduction projects.
  • Strong project management, contractor management, troubleshooting and technical problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience managing CAPEX/OPEX budgets, manpower and facilities maintenance programmes.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across facilities, process, equipment and production teams.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or equivalent certification would be an advantage.
