The Fuel Oil Trader will be a key member of the FO/Material business unit, one of the primary trading books in Singapore, reporting to the Global FO team lead and supporting SK Energy’s global commodities trading business. Key responsibilities and expectations include:
Responsibilities
- Execute discretionary trades for Fuel Oil, Straight-run Feedstock, and Slurry across both physical and paper markets.
- Optimize refinery feedstock and Fuel Oil economics and balances in a timely and structured manner.
- Manage physical & paper positions, logistics, and inventory in close coordination with operations and bunker trading desks.
- Lead cross-regional arbitrage strategies and risk exposures – including freight, pricing, and operations - in close collaboration with overseas desks.
- Identify and commercialize new trading opportunities across sourcing, logistics, storage, and blending to maximize book profitability.
- Maintain up-to-date market intelligence on market fundamentals, macroeconomic trends, and geopolitical dynamics.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with key market participants, counterparties, and brokers to ensure efficient execution.

Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance or other relevant fields.
- 12+ years of commodity trading experience.
- 8+ years of Fuel Oil trading with a proven track record in leading cross-regional arbitrage trades (pricing, freight, and operational risks) and storage/blending business.
- Experience in refinery optimization or feedstock economics is needed.
- Proven track record of consistently delivering strong P&L performance and driving bottom-line value.
- Strong capability to identify new commercial opportunities, structure trading plans, and scale new business models.
- Deep understanding of market fundamentals, global trade flows, arbitrage economics, and geopolitical dynamics.
- Sound knowledge of commodity risk management practices, including hedging, risk exposure management, VaR concepts, and derivatives market mechanics.
