Role Summary

The IT Infrastructure & Network Specialist supports the organisation’s IT infrastructure, network services and ICT operations, providing hands-on troubleshooting, incident support and infrastructure maintenance across the school campus.

Responsibilities

Network & Infrastructure Support

  • Support and maintain LAN, WAN, wireless, firewall, VPN, VLAN, DHCP, DNS, routing, switching and related network services.
  • Monitor network availability and performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues and support incident resolution across classrooms, laboratories, offices and remote users.
  • Assist with network configuration, segmentation, firewall policies, wireless access and secure connectivity.
  • Coordinate with service providers and vendors on network, ISP, firewall, wireless and cabling matters.

Systems & Endpoint Support

  • Support servers, virtualisation, backup, monitoring, endpoint management and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Assist with Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, user access and endpoint configuration.
  • Support patching, firmware upgrades, software deployment, endpoint protection and vulnerability remediation.
  • Provide technical support for classrooms, computer labs, examinations and campus operations.

Service Desk & Incident Support

  • Provide technical support and act as an escalation point for infrastructure and network-related incidents.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis and ensure issues are properly documented and followed through to resolution.
  • Support incident, service request and change management processes, and contribute to knowledge base and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to enhance ICT reliability and user experience.

Security, Compliance & Operations

  • Support ICT controls relating to access management, network security, endpoint security, asset management, monitoring and incident response.
  • Maintain operational documentation and evidence required for ISO 27001, EduTrust, internal and external audits.
  • Follow approved ICT, information security, access, incident and change management procedures.
  • Support security incident response and recovery activities where required.

Projects & Vendor Coordination

  • Support infrastructure projects such as network refreshes, firewall upgrades, wireless improvements, endpoint deployment and Microsoft 365/cloud initiatives.
  • Assist with testing, implementation, documentation and operational handover of new ICT solutions.
  • Coordinate with vendors on implementation, maintenance and support matters.
  • Undertake other ICT duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure, network administration, NOC/SOC or IT operations.
  • CCNA certification is preferred.
  • Experience with network monitoring, troubleshooting and incident resolution; exposure to enterprise network, firewall, wireless or security environments is advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of TCP/IP, VLAN, routing, switching, DHCP, DNS, VPN and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Fortinet, Aruba, HPE, Cisco, Microsoft 365, Active Directory or equivalent technologies is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, incident management, change management and service desk processes is advantageous.
