If you enjoy working with parents, interacting with children and is driven to make meaningful impact on family wellbeing, we welcome you to join us. You can be part of a warm and dynamic KidSTART team at the Community Services and Programmes centre in the Singapore Children’s Society.

The KidSTART programme provides upstream support to children from low-income families in the areas of early childhood development, health, and social support. As a KidSTART Practitioner, you will actively engage families and work closely with social/ community partners and government agencies. Through home visitations, you will support parents in their parenting through delivery of a range of child development strategies, assess, and monitor their children’s health and development.

As a KidSTART Practitioner, you will be expected to:

  • Provide support and guidance to enhance parents' capacity in nurturing child development through regular and consistent home visits.
  • Conduct screening and ongoing assessments on child development, maternal and family wellbeing, and associated needs and risks to inform the appropriate intensity and tailoring of interventions.
  • Build and maintain positive partnerships with parents and caregivers to effectively support the transfer of child development knowledge and skills.
  • Motivate and strengthen parents’ capacity to apply and integrate child development knowledge and skills by creating and facilitating learning opportunities within the context of parent child relationships.
  • Provide information and guidance on the areas of early childhood development and health, with support from a multi-disciplinary team comprising paediatricians, nurses, allied health professionals and early childhood consultants.
  • Collaborate and partner community and social service agencies (eg. FSCs, SSOs) to deliver integrated and coordinated care for families.
  • Participate actively and contribute to discussions in team meetings, supervision sessions, training, and multidisciplinary case reviews.
  • Be involved in the regular reviews of existing programmes and processes with the team.
  • Participate in the evaluation and fidelity monitoring of service delivery through consistency in documentation, administrative work and meeting of service standard requirements.

As a staff at SCS, you will contribute to the organisational mission of championing the wellbeing of children and youth by shifting mindsets and creating lasting change. You can expect to be involved in cross-centre work opportunities, fund-raising events and/or undertake any other responsibilities or duties assigned by the Head of Centre.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Early Childhood or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of experience in the social service sector working with young children and families, or in early childhood development with an understanding of needs of low-income families arepreferred.
  • Fresh graduates are welcome.
  • Possess a keen interest in parenting and child development work.
  • Demonstrates empathy and understanding of the needs and challenges faced by parents and caregivers.
  • An excellent team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Works effectively and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and community partners.
  • Demonstrates self-awareness, adaptability, and actively pursues continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Willing and able to work on some weekday evenings and weekends.
