The posting

We are seeking an experienced Managing Director to provide overall strategic, commercial, technical and operational leadership for the company.

The role combines executive management, data centre and IT infrastructure knowledge, international business development and cross-border operational leadership. The Managing Director will be responsible for leading the company's Singapore operations while overseeing and developing its international business, customer relationships, technical service activities and project operations.

The company currently has business and project presence across the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Australia and Malaysia. The position therefore requires a senior professional with substantial international exposure who is comfortable managing customers, projects, technical teams and business activities across different countries and cultures.

Regular international travel will be required according to customer, project and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall strategic, commercial, technical and operational leadership for the company.
  • Develop and implement the company's long-term business strategy, international growth plans and market expansion initiatives.
  • Lead and oversee data centre, IT infrastructure and related technical service operations in Singapore and overseas.
  • Provide executive oversight of technical projects with sufficient technical knowledge to understand project scope, infrastructure requirements, implementation challenges, operational risks and customer requirements.
  • Work closely with technical teams on data centre deployment, equipment installation, migration, maintenance, troubleshooting and infrastructure support activities.
  • Participate in technical and commercial discussions with customers and ensure proposed solutions are operationally feasible and aligned with project requirements.
  • Manage and further develop the company's business and project activities across the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Australia and Malaysia.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, strategic partnerships and long-term customer relationships in Singapore and international markets.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, proposals and major customer engagements.
  • Oversee project planning, mobilisation, manpower requirements, technical resources, budgets and operational performance.
  • Establish and coordinate overseas project teams and operational resources according to customer and project requirements.
  • Recruit, develop and manage technical, operational and business support personnel for Singapore and overseas operations.
  • Maintain effective relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors, service providers and business partners across different markets.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the company's management, technical, operational and business development teams.
  • Ensure local and overseas operations are conducted in accordance with applicable requirements, customer standards and company policies.
  • Monitor business performance, major projects and international expansion initiatives and provide appropriate strategic direction.
  • Represent the company in senior-level customer meetings, technical and commercial discussions, negotiations and strategic business engagements.
  • Undertake regular international travel for customer engagements, business development, project mobilisation and operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Degree from a recognised institution.
  • Substantial experience in senior management, business leadership or operational management.
  • Strong technical knowledge and practical industry experience in data centre operations, IT infrastructure, technology services or related technical environments.
  • Good understanding of data centre infrastructure, server and network environments, equipment deployment, installation, migration, maintenance and technical support operations.
  • Ability to understand technical project requirements and communicate effectively with customers, engineers, vendors and other technical stakeholders.
  • Proven experience managing or coordinating technical projects, service operations or business activities across multiple countries.
  • Strong international business exposure, particularly across European, Middle Eastern and Asia-Pacific markets.
  • Experience working with customers, projects or business partners across different countries and cultural environments.
  • Experience in international business development, customer relationship management and commercial negotiations.
  • Experience establishing, recruiting, coordinating or managing technical and operational teams for overseas projects or business operations.
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, decision-making, negotiation and stakeholder-management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with international customers, employees and business partners.
  • Multilingual communication capabilities would be highly advantageous, given the company's diverse international customer base, workforce and operating environment.
  • Strong understanding of cross-border business practices and ability to operate effectively in culturally diverse environments.
  • Willing and able to undertake frequent international travel, particularly to the company's existing markets in Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a commercially minded and technically knowledgeable senior leader who combines executive management capability, practical data centre and IT infrastructure knowledge, international business development experience and cross-border operational exposure.

The successful candidate should be capable of leading the company's Singapore operations while managing and developing its international activities, overseeing key customer relationships and technical projects, building effective local and overseas teams, and supporting the company's continued growth across Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.
