The posting

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Managing Director to lead and oversee the overall operations, business development, project delivery, financial performance, and strategic growth of our construction company in Singapore.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide overall strategic leadership and direction for the company. • Develop and implement business plans, growth strategies, annual budgets, and operational targets. • Oversee construction projects from tendering and contract award through execution, completion, and handover. • Monitor project costs, profitability, cash flow, manpower deployment, schedules, and quality performance. • Lead business development activities and identify new construction and engineering opportunities. • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, developers, main contractors, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and business partners. • Review major tenders, quotations, contracts, subcontract agreements, and commercial proposals. • Ensure projects comply with contractual requirements, company standards, workplace safety requirements, and applicable Singapore regulations. • Provide leadership to project managers, engineers, quantity surveyors, supervisors, administrative staff, and operational teams. • Monitor management accounts, project margins, operating expenses, receivables, and overall company financial performance. • Establish effective internal controls, operational procedures, reporting systems, and performance indicators. • Represent the company in major commercial negotiations, management meetings, client presentations, and strategic discussions. • Ensure appropriate manpower planning, recruitment, staff development, and succession planning. • Work closely with senior management to improve productivity, efficiency, profitability, and long-term business sustainability. • Report regularly to shareholders/directors on company performance, risks, opportunities, and strategic initiatives.

Requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline preferred. • Significant senior management experience within the construction, civil engineering, building, M&E, or infrastructure sector. • Strong understanding of construction operations, project management, tendering, contracts, budgeting, and commercial management. • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and large operational teams. • Strong leadership, negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. • Good knowledge of the Singapore construction industry and regulatory environment will be an advantage. • Strong business development capabilities and established industry networks are advantageous. • Ability to manage business performance with a strong focus on revenue growth, profitability, cost control, and project delivery.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

A senior construction professional who can combine technical understanding with commercial leadership and take full responsibility for business growth, project execution, financial performance, client management, and organisational development.
