About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Merchandising Manager to lead the merchandising strategy and execution across South East Asia & Pacific.

The role combines strategic merchandising leadership with strong operational ownership of buying, merchandise financial planning, inventory management and business performance. The Merchandising Manager will be expected to remain closely involved in day-to day analysis and planning while providing clear commercial recommendations to drive sales, sell-through, profitability and inventory productivity.

Working closely with Retail, CRM, Finance, Marketing and global Brand teams, the role will translate product, financial, client and store insights into actionable merchandising strategies across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Merchandising Strategy & Buying

  • Define and implement the regional merchandising strategy in line with global brand direction and regional business objectives.
  • Lead seasonal buying and assortment definition across markets, stores and channels, balancing brand vision, commercial opportunities, client needs and financial targets.
  • Partner closely with global Merchandising teams during buying sessions and provide structured regional feedback on product needs, opportunities and market specificities.
  • Support franchise partners during buying sessions and provide ongoing merchandising guidance across indirect markets.

Merchandise Financial Planning & OTB

  • Own and actively manage the merchandise financial planning process, including sales, stock, intake and markdown planning.
  • Build and maintain seasonal and annual Open-to-Buy (OTB) plans by brand, market, store and category, ensuring investment is aligned with sales targets and business priorities.
  • Develop sales and stock forecasts and translate commercial targets into appropriate inventory requirements and buying budgets.
  • Identify inventory risks and opportunities early and recommend concrete actions to optimize stock investment and profitability.
  • Maintain accurate planning tools and analyses, with a strong hands-on approach to data management and financial modelling.

Inventory & Product Lifecycle Management

  • Manage inventory throughout the full product lifecycle, from initial buy and delivery phasing through replenishment, transfers, markdown and end-of-season management.
  • Drive allocation, replenishment and stock rebalancing across markets and stores to maximize product availability and sales potential.
  • Monitor SKU and category performance closely and take timely corrective actions on under- and over-performing products.
  • Optimize stock productivity while maintaining appropriate depth and breadth of assortment across the store network.

Business Performance & Commercial Analysis

  • Lead weekly, monthly and seasonal performance reviews across brands, markets, stores and product categories.
  • Conduct detailed hands-on analysis of sales, sell-through, stock, margin and product performance to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Translate analysis into clear commercial recommendations and action plans for Retail and senior management.
  • Prepare regular merchandising reporting and contribute to regional business reviews, budget and forecast exercises.
  • Combine quantitative analysis with qualitative feedback from stores and clients to support buying and merchandising decisions.

Retail & CRM Partnership

  • Act as a key business partner to Retail teams, maintaining a strong understanding of store performance, client demand and local commercial opportunities.
  • Conduct regular store visits and engage with Store Managers and Retail teams to capture product and client feedback and translate it into merchandising actions.
  • Partner closely with CRM to understand client segmentation, purchasing behavior and VIC opportunities and incorporate these insights into assortment and product strategies.
  • Equip Retail teams with relevant product and performance insights to strengthen commercial execution by conducting seasonal product training.

Cross-functional & Team Leadership

  • Act as the key merchandising interface between regional markets and global Brand teams.
  • Partner closely with Retail, CRM, Finance, Marketing, Wholesale and Visual Merchandising to ensure alignment between product strategy, inventory investment and overall business priorities.
  • Present merchandising performance, opportunities, risks and recommendations to regional and global senior management.
  • Manage, coach and develop the merchandising team while remaining actively involved in key planning, analysis and operational activities.
  • Foster a collaborative, commercially minded and accountable team culture.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in merchandising, buying and merchandise planning, ideally within luxury fashion or premium retail.
  • Proven ability to manage seasonal buying budgets and translate sales objectives into inventory and buying plans.
  • Strong numerical and financial acumen with advanced Excel skills and the ability to independently build and maintain planning and analytical tools.
  • Strong experience managing multi-market and/or regional merchandising responsibilities.
  • Excellent understanding of luxury retail, client behavior and store dynamics.
  • Proven ability to combine strategic thinking with a highly hands-on approach.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills, particularly with Retail, Finance and CRM.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear commercial recommendations.
  • Experience managing and developing a team is preferred.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
