Job Summary
The Music Director provides artistic, academic, and musical leadership for the music school by developing curriculum, mentoring teachers, guiding student progress, directing performances, and enhancing the school’s music programmes.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and review the music curriculum and programmes to meet educational goals and student needs
- Recruit, mentor, supervise, and evaluate music teachers to ensure high teaching standards and professional growth
- Monitor student progress and advise on learning and performance pathways to support musical development
- Plan and oversee concerts, recitals, showcases, masterclasses, workshops, and other musical events to engage students and audiences
- Select, arrange, and manage repertoire tailored to students’ abilities and programme objectives
- Direct ensembles, bands, choirs, orchestras, and other performance groups to deliver quality musical presentations
- Conduct rehearsals and provide musical coaching to students and teachers to improve performance skills
- Observe lessons and provide constructive feedback to maintain consistent teaching quality
- Develop new programmes and initiatives to enhance the school’s educational and musical offerings
- Collaborate with management, operations, and marketing teams to coordinate school programmes and events
- Advise parents and students on musical development and progression when required
- Oversee music-related resources, instruments, equipment, and departmental needs to ensure operational readiness
- Stay informed of current developments in music education and integrate relevant approaches into programmes
- Represent the school professionally in performances, collaborations, competitions, and external music activities
- Support the school’s strategic objectives, including student enrolment, retention, and reputation growth
