Position Overview
POET Technologies is a pioneering deep-tech and semiconductor company developing its innovative Optical Interposer platform. Following the successful implementation of Phase 1 of NetSuite, we are seeking an experienced NetSuite Advisory Consultant to provide independent solution architecture and design governance for Phase 2 of our ERP transformation.
This role will serve as the key design authority, ensuring that NetSuite solutions are scalable, financially sound, aligned with accounting policies, and optimized around native functionality. Working closely with the internal IT Project Manager and implementation partner, the consultant will oversee solution design, strengthen financial controls, and support the integration of manufacturing, inventory, supply chain, engineering, and finance processes.
Job Responsibilities
- Phase 1 Assessment and Financial Controls: Conduct a comprehensive review of the existing NetSuite environment, including sales and purchase order workflows, item master data, inventory, BOMs, general ledger mappings, roles, and reporting. Identify risks and deliver an audit report with a prioritized remediation and data-cleansing roadmap, focusing on inventory valuation and financial integrity.
- Phase 2 Solution Design: Translate business requirements into scalable, NetSuite-native solutions covering Advanced Inventory, bin management, MPS/MRP planning, demand forecasting, work orders, assemblies, multi-level BOMs, inventory allocation, contract manufacturer consignment, drop-shipping, and manufacturing capacity constraints.
- Financial Process and Accounting Governance: Define and validate financial controls for inventory valuation, standard costing, cost roll-ups, work-in-progress (WIP), landed costs, consigned inventory reconciliation, revenue recognition, and gross-margin-based pricing controls.
- Solution Architecture and Design Authority: Review, challenge, and approve implementation partner deliverables, enforcing a “configure first, script last” approach to minimize customization, technical debt, and long-term maintenance costs while ensuring solutions remain upgrade-safe and compliant with accounting policies.
- ERP Roadmap and Stakeholder Governance: Collaborate with the internal IT Project Manager to oversee the ERP roadmap, establish measurable acceptance criteria, monitor key risks and scope changes, and provide bi-weekly progress and financial-impact updates to the SVP of Accounting & Finance.
- Master Data and System Integration: Establish item master and BOM governance, customer-part to internal-part cross-referencing, and data ownership rules between Finance and Engineering. Define integration requirements for CRM and engineering systems, including product data management systems (PDMS), while maximizing native NetSuite capabilities.
- UAT, Cutover and Knowledge Transfer: Develop end-to-end UAT scripts covering manufacturing, procurement, inventory, order fulfillment, and financial month-end close. Define go/no-go criteria, assess cutover readiness, and deliver training and handover documentation for Finance, Supply Chain, Warehouse, and other key users.
Requirements
- ERP and NetSuite Expertise: At least 10 years of ERP consulting experience, including a minimum of 5 years in hands-on NetSuite solution architecture or advisory roles.
- Manufacturing Implementation Experience: At least 3 full-cycle NetSuite implementations in hardware, semiconductor, or complex manufacturing environments, with demonstrated expertise in Advanced Inventory, Work Orders/Assemblies, BOMs, and MRP/MPS.
- Financial and Cost Accounting Knowledge: Strong expertise in standard costing, cost roll-ups, WIP valuation, inventory accounting, landed costs, revenue recognition, and month-end close controls, with the ability to engage confidently with senior Finance leadership on accounting treatments.
- Supply Chain and Integration Expertise: Proven experience with contract manufacturer or 3PL consignment inventory, drop-shipping, manufacturing workflows, and ERP integration with CRM or engineering and product data management systems.
- Solution Governance and Communication: Demonstrated experience as an independent solution architect, design authority, or client-side ERP advisor, with strong documentation, stakeholder management, and vendor-challenging skills. A native-first, commercially pragmatic approach is essential. Experience in semiconductor or photonics manufacturing, SOX compliance, external audits, or ERP IT General Controls (ITGC) is an advantage.
