Clinical Service Delivery
- Deliver occupational therapy assessment, treatment and rehabilitation interventions to residents in accordance with their individual needs and care plans.
- Contribute occupational therapy expertise during patient review meetings and multidisciplinary discussions.
- Provide guidance and supervision to Therapy Assistants and volunteers in activities related to occupational therapy services.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with rehabilitation professionals and other members of the multidisciplinary care team.
Education, Training & Professional Development
- Maintain professional competency through continuous learning and awareness of current occupational therapy practices, developments and evidence-based approaches.
- Contribute to the review and development of occupational therapy practices and services within the department.
- Support the training and development of therapy aides, therapy associates, volunteers and caregivers.
- Provide clinical teaching, supervision and guidance to Occupational Therapy students and Therapy Assistant students during clinical placements.
- Contribute to staff education and in-service training for nurses on occupational therapy and related rehabilitation topics.
- Participate in research, clinical projects and other initiatives that support professional and service development.
Administration & Service Support
- Support continuity of occupational therapy services by providing appropriate coverage within the Allied Health Team when required.
- Maintain accurate departmental workload data and monthly incident records for reporting to the Head of Allied Health and Senior Therapist-in-Charge.
- Provide professional feedback and contribute to the appraisal and development of Therapy Assistants and Therapy Associates in accordance with organisational policies.
Quality Improvement & Other Responsibilities
- Participate in departmental projects, interdepartmental committees and quality improvement initiatives.
- Identify gaps or areas for improvement in service delivery and contribute to the implementation of appropriate solutions.
