Clinical Duties
- Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention to residents in the nursing home, based on their individual needs and care goals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary patient review meetings and contribute relevant occupational therapy input to residents’ care planning.
- Supervise and provide guidance to Therapy Assistants (TAs) and volunteers involved in relevant therapy activities.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with members of the rehabilitation and multidisciplinary care teams.
Education & Training
- Keep up to date with developments, evidence-based practices and advances in occupational therapy, and contribute to the ongoing development of the department.
- Participate in the training and development of therapy aides, therapy associates, volunteers and caregivers in areas relevant to their roles.
- Provide appropriate teaching, clinical guidance and supervision to Occupational Therapy students and Therapy Assistant students during clinical placements.
- Contribute to in-service education and knowledge-sharing for nursing staff on occupational therapy-related topics.
- Participate in relevant research, clinical development and service improvement projects.
Administrative Duties
- Provide appropriate service coverage and support for occupational therapy functions within the Allied Health Team when required.
- Maintain accurate departmental workload statistics and monthly incident reports, and submit relevant information to the Head of Allied Health and Senior Therapist-in-Charge.
- Provide relevant feedback and contribute to the appraisal and development of Therapy Assistants and Therapy Associates in accordance with organisational processes.
Other Duties
- Participate in departmental projects, interdepartmental committees and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist in identifying service or operational issues and contribute to the recommendation and implementation of appropriate improvements.
