Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide appropriate and effective occupational therapy assessment, intervention and treatment to residents in the nursing home.
- Participate in multidisciplinary patient review meetings and contribute relevant occupational therapy input to residents’ care plans.
- Supervise and provide guidance to Therapy Assistants (TAs) and volunteers involved in occupational therapy-related activities.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with members of the rehabilitation and multidisciplinary care teams.
Education & Training
- Keep up to date with developments, evidence-based practices and advances in occupational therapy, and contribute to the continuous development of the department.
- Support and participate in training and competency development for therapy aides, therapy associates, volunteers and caregivers.
- Provide clinical supervision and guidance to occupational therapy students and Therapy Assistant students during their clinical placements.
- Contribute to in-service education and knowledge-sharing for nursing staff on topics related to occupational therapy and rehabilitation.
- Participate in relevant clinical, service and research projects undertaken by the organisation or department.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Provide coverage and support for occupational therapy services and related duties within the Allied Health Team, where required.
- Prepare and submit departmental workload statistics and monthly incident reports to the Head of Allied Health and the designated Senior Therapist.
- Provide appropriate feedback and input on the performance and development of Therapy Assistants and Therapy Associates, where required.
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in departmental projects, interdepartmental committees and quality improvement initiatives.
- Identify service gaps or operational issues and contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate improvements.
