The posting

Our client is test laboratory specializing in fast, reliable and accurate testing of metal. They offer a comprehensive selection of tests and inspection services including mechanical tests, chemical and metallographic analysis, corrosion tests, non-destructive tests, welding consultancy & welding inspection, failure analysis, etc.

Our client is seeking for an experienced, proactive and meticulous Purchasing Executive to support the Company’s purchasing, inventory and logistics operations. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the role will support the effective and timely execution of day-to-day purchasing operations.

JOB DIMENSION (SCOPE)

  • Manage end-to-end purchasing activities, including supplier sourcing, quotation evaluation, price negotiation and procurement execution, primarily for the Singapore headquarters, while supporting the Malaysia and Indonesia sister companies as required.
  • Evaluate suppliers with consideration for cost, quality, lead time and operational requirements, and identify alternative sources where required.
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance, including resolving quality or delivery issues and negotiating commercial terms.
  • Liaise closely with suppliers and internal departments to ensure purchasing requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner.
  • Monitor outstanding matters and follow up proactively to prevent delays, shortages or operational disruptions.
  • Manage inventory and stock-related activities to ensure adequate availability and proper stock control.
  • Coordinate local and overseas deliveries, shipments and logistics arrangements.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, supplier and product-related records and documentation.
  • Provide guidance and operational support to purchasing staff across the Group, where required.
  • Support annual budget exercise and monitor actual expenses against the approved budget.
  • Support cost optimisation and continuous improvement of purchasing processes.
  • Support departmental compliance, internal audits and general purchasing operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant purchasing experience, preferably in an engineering, manufacturing, laboratory or technical environment.
  • Experience in sourcing chemicals, laboratory supplies, equipment or technical materials is preferred.
  • Fast learner, meticulous and proactive with strong follow-up skills.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and negotiation skills, with a good command of English.
  • Cost-conscious with good commercial awareness.
  • IT proficient, with experience in ERP or other business systems.
