The posting

Metal Recycling and trading firm specializing in ferrous and non-ferrous scrap processing and recovery solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently supervise daily metal recycling operations across multiple locations in Singapore, including loading/unloading, manual sorting, mechanical segregation, weighing, processing and organised storage.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing scrap grades, identify contamination and mixed materials, and resolve grading or weight discrepancies before processing or dispatch.
  • Operate and supervise hydraulic shears, cable strippers and related recycling equipment in accordance with operating procedures and safety requirements.
  • Plan daily manpower allocation, machine utilisation and processing schedules to achieve output targets while maintaining material quality and safe working conditions.
  • Monitor material recovery rates, processing losses and stock movements; investigate discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using Microsoft Excel or ERP systems, reconcile physical stock against system balances, and ensure supporting weighing and delivery records are complete.
  • Implement site risk controls, conduct safety briefings, and enforce applicable MOM workplace safety and NEA environmental requirements.
  • Conduct equipment inspections, identify signs of mechanical or hydraulic faults, and coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs. Ensure unsafe equipment is taken out of service.
  • Train and supervise site workers in scrap identification, segregation methods, safe equipment use and housekeeping.
  • Coordinate with logistics and trading teams, transport contractors and equipment suppliers to meet collection, processing and delivery schedules.
  • Submit daily reports covering stock availability, production output, recovery rates, machine downtime, manpower deployment and operational issues.

Essential Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in engineering, industrial operations, environmental management or a related discipline; equivalent technical qualifications supported by substantial relevant experience will also be considered.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in metal recycling or scrap processing, including at least 2 years supervising yard or plant operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify and grade ferrous and non-ferrous scrap, including copper, aluminum, stainless steel, brass, zinc and cables.
  • Practical experience identifying contamination, distinguishing mixed grades and assessing how material composition affects recovery and processing methods.
  • Hands-on experience operating or directly supervising hydraulic shears and wire/cable strippers, including pre-start inspections, operating adjustments and safe shutdown procedures.
  • Ability to plan manpower and machine allocation, resolve processing bottlenecks and manage competing collection and dispatch priorities.
  • Ability to reconcile weighing records, stock movements and physical inventory, investigate variances and document corrective action.
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting/filtering and stock reconciliation worksheets, or equivalent inventory functions in an ERP system.
  • Ability to interpret machine operating manuals, process flow charts, maintenance checklists and safe work procedures.
  • Practical understanding of workplace risk assessments, machinery isolation procedures, traffic management and safe material handling.
  • Ability to conduct site inspections and supervise work in outdoor recycling yards involving walking, standing, uneven ground, noise, dust and moving machinery, using the required protective equipment and safety controls.
  • Willingness to travel between assigned operating locations in Singapore.
  • Strong supervisory skills, with the ability to give clear work instructions, conduct safety briefings and prepare accurate operational reports.

Preferred Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems sufficient to recognise faults and communicate repair requirements to qualified technicians.
  • Experience improving recovery rates, reducing contamination, controlling stock losses or reducing equipment downtime.
  • Experience maintaining records for environmental, safety or ISO management system audits.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
