About the Job
The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) invites applications for a Research Fellow position in multimodal wireless perception for physical AI. The project focuses on integrating wireless sensing, complementary sensor information, and artificial intelligence for environment understanding and autonomous decision-making. The successful candidate will conduct research in integrated sensing and communications, edge intelligence, and communication–sensing–computation co-design, with an emphasis on accurate perception and efficient inference in distributed systems.
What You Will Do
- Develop multimodal perception algorithms combining wireless measurements with complementary sensor information for environment understanding, localization, and tracking.
- Investigate integrated sensing and communications techniques and distributed sensing methods for physical AI applications.
- Develop efficient edge AI inference methods considering perception accuracy, processing latency, communication overhead, and energy consumption.
- Design optimization and learning algorithms for joint allocation of sensing, communication, and computing resources.
- Implement and evaluate proposed methods through numerical simulations, relevant datasets, and prototype development where appropriate.
- Prepare publications in leading journals and conferences, technical reports, and project deliverables.
- Work closely with the principal investigator, support student research, and contribute to collaborative projects and research proposals.
Who We Are Looking For
- A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
- A strong research background in wireless communications, integrated sensing and communications, edge AI, or mobile edge computing.
- Demonstrated experience in mathematical modelling, numerical optimization, machine learning, or deep learning.
- Proficiency in Python or MATLAB, with experience in relevant simulation or machine learning frameworks.
- A strong publication record in relevant peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
- Strong analytical, scientific writing, and communication skills, with the ability to conduct independent research and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in multimodal learning, sensor fusion, wireless sensing, or distributed perception.
- Experience in communication–computation co-design, distributed AI inference, or resource allocation for intelligent wireless systems.
- Experience in developing research prototypes or validating algorithms using realistic datasets or experimental measurements.
