Job Description
The Research Fellow (RF) will work on research projects under Dr Cyrus Ho from the Department of Psychological Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
A key project that the RF may contribute to is the CHIMES Study, which aims to establish a depression cohort with a one-year follow-up to investigate the neural basis of emotional dysregulation. The study incorporates multimodal brain imaging approaches, including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), to better understand the neurobiological mechanisms underlying depression and emotional dysregulation.
The RF will also contribute to other ongoing and upcoming projects spanning neuroscience, mental health, cognitive ageing, and translational research, including studies involving neuroimaging, clinical, cognitive, and biological data.
The position offers opportunities to work across multiple projects and collaborate within a multidisciplinary research environment.
Job Scope
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee research projects and related activities.
- Contribute to study design, research methodology, protocol development, and implementation.
- Perform and/or oversee the processing and analysis of research data.
- Conduct fMRI and/or fNIRS data processing and analysis, where applicable.
- Apply appropriate statistical and computational methods to analyse multimodal research data.
- Interpret study findings and contribute to the development of new research directions.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to research presentations, reports, grant applications, and other scientific outputs.
- Work collaboratively with clinicians, researchers, research assistants, and other members of the research team.
- Provide guidance and support to junior research staff where appropriate.
- Contribute to additional research projects as required by Dr Cyrus Ho.
Qualifications
- A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Life Sciences, Psychology, Computing, Data Science, or another relevant discipline.
- A strong research background with experience in quantitative data analysis.
- Good scientific writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to troubleshoot methodological and analytical challenges.
- Experience with statistical analysis and relevant analytical software.
- A track record of scientific research and manuscript preparation.
Salary and Remuneration
The contract is for at least one year with the chance of extension. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Comprehensive benefits will be provided in alignment with NUS policies.
