The posting
No prior sales or IT industry experience required. Fresh graduates and career switchers are welcome to apply.
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated, people-oriented Sales Account Manager to develop new business opportunities in enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, GPU computing, AI infrastructure and data centre solutions.
This is a hunter role, with a primary focus on proactively identifying potential customers, initiating conversations, securing meetings and converting opportunities into sales. You should be comfortable reaching out to people you have not met, handling rejection professionally and following up consistently—not simply waiting for incoming enquiries.
We value high emotional intelligence (EQ), strong communication skills, resilience and a willingness to learn over previous experience. You do not need to be a technical expert when you join, but you must be curious about technology and committed to building your product knowledge. You will work closely with sales colleagues, presales engineers and vendor partners to understand customer needs and develop suitable proposals.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role is not determined by your previous sales or IT experience. We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, take initiative and consistently put in the effort required to develop new business.
You will be expected to:
- Proactively reach out to potential customers rather than wait for incoming enquiries.
- Consistently prospect, follow up and work towards securing customer meetings and new opportunities.
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline.
- Develop your knowledge of our products, solutions and the enterprise IT industry over time.
- Build strong relationships with customers, vendors and internal teams.
- Take ownership of your opportunities and follow through on commitments.
- Progressively work towards and achieve agreed sales revenue and gross profit targets.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development & Prospecting
- Proactively identify and approach potential customers across enterprise, government, education and other business sectors.
- Generate new opportunities through cold calling, email outreach, networking, events and other prospecting activities.
- Secure customer meetings, understand purchasing needs and qualify potential opportunities.
- Build a healthy sales pipeline through consistent outreach and follow-up, working towards agreed sales activity, revenue and gross profit targets.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Building
- Build trust by listening carefully, asking relevant questions and understanding customer priorities.
- Adapt your communication style to different personalities and stakeholders, including IT teams, procurement personnel and business decision-makers.
- Handle objections, difficult conversations and rejection with empathy, professionalism and persistence.
- Develop long-term relationships with customers you acquire and identify opportunities for repeat business.
Sales & Commercial Management
- Progress opportunities from initial contact through requirements gathering, quotation, negotiation, order confirmation and post-sales handover, with guidance where needed.
- Prepare accurate quotations and proposals in coordination with internal teams.
- Follow up on open opportunities, maintain accurate CRM records and provide realistic sales forecasts.
- Work within company pricing and approval guidelines to protect margins, and assist with payment follow-up when required.
Solution Selling & Product Learning
- Develop an understanding of enterprise servers, storage, networking, AI and GPU computing, and related infrastructure solutions.
- Learn to identify customer business needs and explain the value of proposed solutions rather than competing on price alone.
- Work with presales engineers and technical consultants to address technical requirements and prepare suitable solutions.
- Participate in customer presentations and product discussions, seeking technical support whenever necessary.
Tender & Proposal Coordination
- Assist with government, education and enterprise tender submissions, with guidance from experienced colleagues.
- Coordinate customer requirements, pricing, supporting documents and submission deadlines with internal teams, vendors and distributors.
- Help ensure proposals are complete, accurate and submitted on time.
- Learn procurement processes and progressively take greater ownership of tender and proposal activities.
Vendor & Internal Collaboration
- Build productive working relationships with vendors, distributors and internal teams.
- Coordinate pricing requests, product availability, deal registrations and customer engagements.
- Ensure clear communication and a smooth handover to technical and operations teams after a sale.
