Job Description: Sales Manager – Marine Industry

Industry: Marine & Offshore Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Manager to drive business development and sales growth within the Marine & Offshore industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships, and promoting the company's products and services to shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, offshore operators, and other maritime stakeholders.

The ideal candidate should possess strong commercial acumen, excellent relationship-building skills, and a good understanding of the marine industry, with a proven ability to develop new accounts and grow existing business.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and expand the company's market presence within the Marine & Offshore industry.
  • Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, offshore operators, and marine engineering companies.
  • Promote the company's marine equipment, technical products, engineering solutions, and services to prospective and existing customers.
  • Generate new sales leads through networking, industry events, customer visits, referrals, and market research.
  • Prepare sales proposals, quotations, tenders, and commercial presentations tailored to customer requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms to secure new business while maintaining profitability.
  • Monitor sales performance, market trends, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for business growth.

2. Account Management & Customer Relationships

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers and industry stakeholders.
  • Manage existing customer accounts to drive repeat business, customer retention, and account growth.
  • Understand customer requirements, operational challenges, and technical needs to recommend suitable products and services.
  • Conduct regular customer visits and follow up on enquiries, quotations, and ongoing sales opportunities.
  • Address customer feedback and coordinate with internal teams to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.

3. Market Development

  • Identify emerging market opportunities within the shipping, marine engineering, ship repair, offshore, and maritime technology sectors.
  • Develop new customer segments and expand the company's presence across Singapore and regional markets, where applicable.
  • Build strategic partnerships with equipment manufacturers, service providers, shipyards, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of industry developments, regulatory changes, and technological advancements affecting the marine sector.

4. Internal Coordination & Reporting

  • Work closely with technical, engineering, service, operations, and project teams to ensure proposed solutions meet customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders on project specifications, delivery schedules, pricing, and customer commitments.
  • Prepare regular sales forecasts, pipeline reports, account plans, and business performance updates for management.
  • Monitor sales targets, revenue performance, and customer development activities.
  • Provide market intelligence and recommendations to support the company's commercial strategy.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Business, Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of sales or business development experience, preferably within the Marine & Offshore industry.
  • Proven track record in achieving sales targets and developing new business opportunities.
  • Established network of contacts among shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, offshore operators, or marine equipment suppliers would be an advantage.
  • Good understanding of marine equipment, engineering solutions, technical services, or maritime operations.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commercially driven, proactive, and capable of working independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sales reporting tools.
  • Willingness to travel locally and regionally when required.
