Role
The Senior Accountant will oversee the company’s daily financial operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain compliance with statutory requirements. This role will be responsible for managing the in-house accounting function, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and providing financial insights to management for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain the general ledger, reconcile accounts, and oversee journal entries.
- May need to keep 2 sets of books for 2026, 1st book based on cash accounting (for historical comparison) and 2nd book for our transition to full SFRS standards (revenue recognition, consolidation, ROU as key changes)
- Monitor and analyze accounting data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure that data is set up to record P&L by Business Units, products categories for reporting purposes.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable Operations
- Set up Accounts Payable function to efficiently complete vendor and payroll payments, including efficiently managing cash flow. Work with Project team to implement best practices for automation.
- Monitor Receivable collection across the Group and various billing platform. Responsibility for collection lies with Business Units, Finance is to oversee aging, provide for bad debt and sets credit policy.
- Monitor cash flow and manage vendor payments and customer invoicing.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Analyze financial performance against budgets and provide variance explanations on monthly basis.
- Tax & Statutory Compliance
- Prepare and review corporate tax submissions (ECI, CIT, GST/SST, CP204 etc.).
- Ensure statutory compliance including CPF, SDL, EPF, SOCSO, and other regulatory filings. Working with HR on this.
- Apply for Group relief for taxation purposes.
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure internal controls are maintained and followed across all accounting functions.
- Monitor strict adherence to expenses set out by budget and manage vendor policy.
- Set up intercompany transfers policies according to business structure and tax optimisation strategy.
- Ensure that intercompany transfers are set up in a compliant manner with required documentation.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a senior/in-house accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of Singapore and Malaysian accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
