Senior Backend Engineer (AWS)

About the role

We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer (AWS) to build and run enterprise-grade, cloud-native applications on AWS for a regulated-sector programme in Singapore.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and develop RESTful APIs, microservices and backend integration services
  • Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including query optimisation and data integrity
  • Build event-driven integrations using message queues
  • Apply software design patterns, enterprise architecture and secure coding practices
  • Develop and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Contribute to GitLab CI/CD pipelines within Agile delivery teams
  • Debug, troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues

What you will bring

  • 4 to 7 years of backend software development experience building enterprise-grade applications
  • Python, Node.js or Java
  • RESTful APIs and microservices
  • Relational and NoSQL databases
  • Message queues and event-driven architecture
  • Software design patterns and secure coding
  • AWS cloud-native development
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • GitLab, CI/CD and Agile practices
  • Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills

Qualifications & certifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, IT or related field

Work arrangement

  • Location: Singapore, on-site at client premises
  • Employment type: Contract / Permanent / Full Time
  • Working days: Monday to Friday
  • The successful candidate must be able to obtain the required government security clearance before starting
  • Candidates with existing CAT security clearance will be preferred
