NES Fircroft is currently recruiting a Senior Technical Safety Engineer to support offshore Oil & Gas engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute Technical Safety engineering activities in accordance with project requirements, company procedures, quality standards and applicable industry regulations.
- Develop and review Technical Safety deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with project objectives, safety requirements and engineering best practices.
- Provide Technical Safety input and support to multidisciplinary engineering teams during the development and execution of projects.
- Review and contribute to safety-related design philosophies, specifications and engineering studies covering fire protection, gas detection, emergency response, hazardous area classification, emergency shutdown systems and human factors.
- Prepare, review and coordinate Technical Safety deliverables, including firewater system design, fire and gas drawings, hazardous area layouts, noise assessments, flare radiation assessments and escape route studies.
- Support equipment and package engineering activities related to firefighting, life-saving and safety-critical systems.
- Interface with vendors, contractors and other project stakeholders to ensure compliance with technical requirements and project specifications.
- Participate in safety studies, risk assessments and technical reviews, including HAZID, HAZOP, ENVID, SIL assessments, QRA, ALARP and fire and explosion analyses.
- Identify, assess and manage Technical Safety risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
- Monitor and coordinate assigned Technical Safety deliverables to ensure alignment with project schedules and objectives.
- Represent the Technical Safety discipline during project meetings, design reviews, workshops, audits and client engagements.
- Ensure technical issues and action items are effectively tracked and resolved.
- Maintain the technical integrity and quality of all assigned Technical Safety deliverables.
- Provide Technical Safety support during procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up and operational readiness activities as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, engineering best practices and knowledge sharing within the organization.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance where required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of Technical Safety engineering experience within the oil & gas, energy or major industrial sectors.
- At least 5 years of experience in a Senior Technical Safety Engineer or equivalent role.
- Experience working on offshore and/or onshore facilities, including fixed and floating installations.
- Demonstrated experience on brownfield and greenfield projects across various phases of project execution.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycles, engineering deliverables, technical interfaces and multidisciplinary coordination
- Significant experience in the development and implementation of Fire and Gas Detection Systems, Active and Passive Fire Protection Systems, Emergency Shutdown Systems, Emergency Escape, Evacuation and Rescue Strategies, Design Accidental Load Assessments, and Human Factors Engineering
- Experience preparing and reviewing Firewater System Calculations and P&IDs, Fire and Gas Layouts, Hazardous Area Classification Drawings, Noise Assessments and Specifications, Flare Radiation Studies, and Escape Route Layouts
- Experience supporting and implementing recommendations arising from safety studies and risk assessments such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, QRA, ALARP, Fire & Explosion Analysis and related studies.
Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of international oil & gas and process industry standards, codes and best practices.
- Proficiency in Technical Safety software such as PHAST, PIPENET, Flaresim or equivalent industry-standard tools.
- Strong computer literacy with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent technical report writing, presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, vendors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
