Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end trade finance activities, including letters of credit, documentary collections, bank guarantees and standby letters of credit.
- Review trade and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with contractual and banking requirements.
- Prepare, verify and submit trade finance applications, amendments, drawdowns and supporting documents to banks within required timelines.
- Identify documentation discrepancies, assess transaction risks and coordinate timely resolution with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor trade finance facilities, credit limits, utilisation, maturity dates, fees and financing costs, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
- Liaise with banking partners on transaction processing, facility documentation, pricing and operational matters.
- Ensure transactions comply with internal approval procedures, maker-checker controls, AML, sanctions and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with Commercial, Operations, Finance, Legal and Compliance teams to facilitate trade-related transactions.
- Support cash flow planning by providing visibility on upcoming payments, receipts, financing obligations and facility availability.
- Provide guidance to junior team members and review transactions and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Support the enhancement of trade finance processes, controls, templates and reporting.
- Handle other duties and ad hoc assignments as required.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Finance, Banking, Accountancy, Business, Economics or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant trade finance experience.
- Experience in shipping, commodities trading, bunkering or other relevant trading environments will be advantageous.
- Strong practical knowledge of letters of credit, documentary collections, bank guarantees, standby letters of credit and trade documentation.
- Good understanding of trade finance controls, AML, sanctions requirements and banking practices.
- Proven experience working with banks and managing trade facilities, transaction documentation and time-sensitive submissions.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and manage multiple transactions independently.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP, treasury or trade finance systems is an advantage.
- Independent, organised and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
